#246242 My Alzheimer's News

Posted by jamesb99_1999 on 15 January 2013 - 08:28 PM in Any Topic Chat

My grandad was looked after by me and my mom for the last 5+ years where he had sever alzheimers, have to say I think the Medical care for it in this country is Fantastic. There's just very little that can be done - and the pills he was on cost 10k per month to the NHS apparently and even though he was 82 he still got them so not sure it's fair to hae a go at this government and the NHS.

all the best/

#227021 Project Amber Stuff

Posted by jamesb99_1999 on 15 January 2012 - 09:12 AM in Project Amber

I have avoided posting on this as much as I can now (lol). To be honest I know how much work Guitar has put in to this and his reasons for doing so; I also realise the people who frequent these sites (who like me often have addictive personalities and the very concept of being a gambler means you are up and down) often feel frustrated by it's lack of release dates. I am not sure why people are so p*ssed at Guitar though - I remember when I released software without being tested properly to you all just to meet self imposed deadlines and you all moaned at me about bugs and told me that I should have waited - well it seems you are telling Guitar the opposite..???
I hope something is released by him soon - although to be fair not sure I will play it as I have lost interest in playing machines anymore as I am too busy wwith a load of other hobbies. That being said I still read the forums constantly and find them as interesting as ever, but things don't change. People complain about releases and emulators, people re-release old titles with little added and people argue over nothing - which I think is great (lol).

#224361 Check This Out For Ignorence

Posted by jamesb99_1999 on 29 November 2011 - 06:14 PM in Any Topic Chat

Three things. She might have mental issues - all the judgemental people are basing their judgement on what they have read in the gutter press only - you do not know the background so stop hating yourselves, secondly she is now likely to face vigilante justice based on a single outburst as far as we know. Thirdly this is bigger news (with idiots posting it everywhere) than murder going on or the autumn chancellors statement.. So a white woman comes out with some racist comments on a tram - is that really more important or shocking than the barmy Iranians taking over our embassy where peoples lives are in danger.

I had two Asian men call me white scum less than a week ago because I helped a woman off with her case on the train... Doubt that is going to make the news.. and nor should it....

#223772 Please Download My Novel

Posted by jamesb99_1999 on 20 November 2011 - 08:13 AM in Any Topic Chat

Hi all,

I finally got around to releasing one of my novels. I finished this one when I was 16 so be gentle with it - lol. I have another 9 finished to convert to Kindle and have just finished a musical I am trying to get produced but would love people to download my book on the link below and let me have feedback as it's very hard to be critical of your own work - particularly one written so long ago :-)

http://www.amazon.co...21712483&sr=1-3

Thanks
PS If I sell enough to get money will donate to the site of course.

I actually liked this machine loads in the day - not sure I'd have gone that high though. Might have considered £500 if fully working with old coins included. Good on you for the sale though :-)

#218677 Only Just Watched The Video From Chris But..

Posted by jamesb99_1999 on 23 August 2011 - 04:41 PM in General FME Discussion

Off the top of my head you'll have Chris, Harvey, Pete W and Steve Phipps - not sure who else (if anyone) has been indoctrinated into the mysterious inner circle over the years though :)

Nope it's Pandy, Trouty, DanTheMan and MrPotato.

no the previous Simpsons wasn't the same version - used Great Escape Roms if I remember correctly.

#218654 Only Just Watched The Video From Chris But..

Posted by jamesb99_1999 on 23 August 2011 - 08:42 AM in General FME Discussion

I have been pretty tied up and not had much chance to interract on here of late, but just looked at the threads and Wiz's video. I wasn't going to make any comment but I found it strange that nobody mentioned in any of the forums about the different layout designs. It is obvious from watching that several different people have created those layouts - and I would be suprised if Chris had done many/any.. So who were the designers of those layouts? It seems self evident to me that at least 2 other people must have a copy of the updated version of MFME to have been able to create them... So the inner circle rumours MUST have been true... Does anybody think one of them might leak it again now they know there will be no updates (as I can't see Chris putting the same effort in to it now)?

#218306 Ipad Tech Demo

Posted by jamesb99_1999 on 17 August 2011 - 07:39 PM in General FME Discussion

To be honest my company has several apps up on the store and not sure this would ever be possible speaking to my techies for more reasons than I will list. To do with processor speeds, the way the ipad sections off memory, copyright infringement from microsoft etc. etc. I use iPad teamviewer so I can remote on to a pc in my house and can then use any game on my ipad although the screensize is a big issue.

Edit: looks like this is someone teamviewering on to me as I described - anybody wants I could replicate this on iPad 1 or 2 easily.

#215708 £2 Stake On Catb3

Posted by jamesb99_1999 on 16 July 2011 - 05:16 PM in Real Fruit Machines

It's amazing how quickly the £2 stake has been implemented on many machines only days after its announcement :spinny:

Now they are linked to hq and together with all the new video based machines they can update/upgrade the whole lot in next to no time (kind of like those quiz machines with all the different games that they are constantly changing the ones available).

Personally the stake is irrelevant as the percentage is still the thing since the machines stopped being random. Personally I used to love feature machines but to be honest the money is in the video based £1/2 machines for them - I am sure if they could have £10 stake machines they would and may do soon enough.

Would love them to re-release the 1980/1990s machines in modern cabs with stakes reflecting prizes for todays market but maintaining the old way of playing.

#215702 The Future Of Fme - Now Is The Time!

Posted by jamesb99_1999 on 16 July 2011 - 04:30 PM in General FME Discussion

Hi James,

Can I please ask what do you mean by that?

Are you saying that Wizard can't be friends with people?

Hi,

What I meant by that was sometimes people think by being overnice (brown-nosing we used to call it) everyone's their buddy. But in the real world asking questions doesn't do the opposite as telling people how great their blouse looks doesn't turn them in to your bestest buddy/ mate.

#215691 The Future Of Fme - Now Is The Time!

Posted by jamesb99_1999 on 16 July 2011 - 12:33 PM in General FME Discussion

It doesn't ignore the point that he and others were making at all, namely being critical of 'bitching, backstabbing' and all the ridiculous antics of perhaps a half dozen people, over years and years, all over the same old inconsequential shite (which basically boils down to Person A not liking Person B), in a scene consisting of hundreds of active, constructive posters who do not indulge in such obsessive, petulant, childish crap.

No, we've been through this. "The problem" as you put it is a very small minority of highly vocal individuals getting on Guitar's (and Wizard's) case. Guitar isn't Microsoft; he's one bloke who has stated that he has health, life and work issues, who has been fighting and striving with this project singlehanded for years and years - for free - to bring us an emulator. All in his spare time. He set himself a "deadline", doubtless in all good faith and excited about developments at that time, but "missed" it for the perfectly understandable reasons he stated. The VAST MAJORITY of people in this scene - including Wizard himself - expressed their support and empathy with him on this, stating that they didn't mind waiting... and I should hope not anyway. Again, it was only those same very few who antagonised him over this, slating him and his unreleased project, just as those same people have pissed on Wizard's and other emu authors' bonfire again and again over the years, not to mention layout producers also for their so-called "BAF", "eye bleeder", "hyped" layouts or whatever. You've been around long enough, you know all this to be true.

Again, we've been through this. Guitar isn't Microsoft Corp., he's ONE MAN. This is a FREE 'product' that's hugely complex and difficult to produce; I know from personal experience that it's very easy indeed to under estimate the roll-out time of something so complex, even when seemingly nearing the end of the process, something can always come up. Besides, perhaps the bloke should've ignored his health and job opportunities, just so he could meet his "deadline" for his FREE product? LoL.

No-one has a problem with people asking (polite) questions, least of all Guitar. He's said so many times. However, asking questions is one thing, abuse and slating off a product that has not even seen the light of day is quite another ('reinvented wheel emulator', 'coder's disease', 'just get it released so we can have MFME' etc.). As is those same few applying relentless, unreasonable pressure re. 'missed deadlines', usually in a provocative manner, all as aforestated. I think you need to make this basic distinction here.

Also, yes, freedom of speech is important, but should not be without limits, e.g. basic, common courtesy and decency. This forum, for example, is moderated, as indeed most are - with good reason. Whilst it is certainly possible to over-moderate, an unregulated forum of any size is usually a disaster (as was FF before moderation was belatedly reintroduced, albeit not before considerable damage was inflicted on the scene by this same small group of warring individuals).

This 'freedom' to express irrational vendettas of hatred by a few - over absolutely f*** all at the end of the day, as far as I, and surely any sane, rational person can see, is not valid. As I've said, it just boils down to certain people not liking certain other people and trying to hound them out of this hobby, or worse, and not giving a shit about the wider consequences for everyone else. Over the many years, my surprise at these antics has evolved to incredulity, from incredulity to frustration, and eventually from frustration to deep anger. I have tried, numerous times over the years to talk some sense into some of those concerned, with absolutely no success. I might just as well talk to my f*****g dog about it.

Me? If I were a moderator of an FME forum, their arses would not have touched the ground, permanantly, leaving the majority of people in peace to enjoy their hobby, the layout producers to produce their layouts and above all, the emu coders to code their emulators.

As I said previously, I know for a FACT that many have had it up to their necks with the whole 'DT said this, Wizard said that and is a c***, AT was an Apostate of Hell, EPEE caused the Earth to stop rotating and seVen was actually Tom Cruise with sekret info from Maygay' - NO-ONE GAVE A f*** THEN, AND CERTAINLY NOT NOW, 5 YEARS LATER. If these people, finally, find something else to occupy their time, hopefully far away from here, then I for one will rejoice.

This really is the last I'm going to say on this subject, because even saying 'stop f*****g talking about this inconsequential, meaningless, obsessive SHIT' invites still yet further comment and 'debate', which is the very thing that I, and no doubt others want to avoid at all costs.

I'm hoping against hope that a line can finally be drawn, where we as a complete, collective scene can show some maturity, manners, encouragement and gratitude - that we've all moved on. Maybe, MAYBE, this might mean that we can eventually aspire to a position of where we would have been years ago, were it not for the very few repeatedly spoiling things for the very many.

---

I don't even know where to start responding to this as you are obviously at that time of the month.
You talk about most people constructively posting - what this from someone who has posted 47 times in 8 years and mostly on this thread?
Come on let people have opinions and asking questions is never a bad thing.
It is only one person as it's not gone open source yet as I am aware Guitar had said it would be? You don't seem to have a clue about peoples views. A forum is all about people expressing opinions and asking questions - when your period is over you will realise that is all people are doing. I like and respect Nick but think if someone claims they are going to do something and don't deliver people will respond with questions - it's called life. And Chris whether game playing or not isn't your "buddy" whatever you may think.

Again apologies to hear about your period.

#215685 The Future Of Fme - Now Is The Time!

Posted by jamesb99_1999 on 16 July 2011 - 07:45 AM in General FME Discussion

Great sentiment but ignores the point people were making. Everyone would have been silently waiting and hopeful if so many promises and claims hadn't been made with dates and stuff.. Lots of people offering free services give dates that they are going to release do them.. People still get annoyed when those dates pass without the promised item - the problem is the original setting of dates and claims create unnecessary expectation within a market.

If Guitar had simply said I will be releasing an emulator this year nobody would be complaining.. If the claim hadn't been everything would change peoples expectations
wouldn't have been so high and nobody would be questioning this.

Personally I'm happy to wait, but I am always and always will be an advocate of free speech and expression, so I can understand why people would moan or even just dare to ask a question of when it will be released. There is also the point that many people don't care about Amber but only MFME and feel that it's a block to getting their release on that.. As the BP Oil boss says.. "What should I do? Should I..."

Asking a question isn't heresy and I think they would quickly go away if the coders committed as much time to communication as they did when they have a drum to bang. All it would take is 6 mins to update on here a day.

#215087 The Future Of Fme - Now Is The Time!

Posted by jamesb99_1999 on 04 July 2011 - 05:16 AM in General FME Discussion

To be honest asking a question has never destroyed harmony - except for maybe "where's that nice Archduke Ferdinand bloke?". Being someone who is never afraid to ask a question myself I would have probably posted pretty much what Daryl did but know many people don't like to "risk" any progress.... You don't ask you don't get and we should all be allowed to make our points. People are dissapointed because their hopes were raised by a promised release date and (if manipulatively, shrewdly or nicely) Wizard has said his won't be done until after Ambers release people are pushing Guitars as much for Amber as for progress on MFME.

#214715 Any News On The Emulators.

Posted by jamesb99_1999 on 25 June 2011 - 05:53 PM in General FME Discussion

Has anybody had an update on either of the emulators. It all seems to have been quite lately - which is odd as so much was said over so long, just wondered why the updates have stopped?

Thanks

Hi Daryl, Sorry to hear that mate.

My Grandad had it but to be honest he functioned normally for many many years (and it wasn't that which killed him - he died at 83 of unrelated heart problem). Towards the end his memory was very poor and he forgot somethings but he was older and he was still happy. Getting on the retro medicine at an early stage is the most important thing - and for some people it can arrest it pretty much for a very long time. You could still do all the things you want in life mate and am sure you will. Having a loving family and friends is the most important thing and sure I can speak for everyone when I say we are here for you, and am positive you will have many many happy years still like my Granddad did.

All the best.

#214143 A Plea To Everyone Who Uses This Site

Posted by jamesb99_1999 on 15 June 2011 - 06:04 PM in Any Topic Chat

I think designers know people thank them for it, sometimes you don't want to leave a thank you as there's so much more you could say if you get in to it.. Plus I am not sure anybody does it for the adoration. If I really like an emulation I will often leave a thanks if I get the chance, others I don't say thank you as don't like them but don't want to be negative so leave no comment. There are lots of people to thank in the scene and I agree they probably do deserve thanks... But even though I don't express it that much you know I am 100% more "honestly" grateful to you than the fruit sellers on ebay or even many buyers..

#214069 Fme - New Start - See For Yourself

Posted by jamesb99_1999 on 14 June 2011 - 06:10 PM in General FME Discussion

Be nice if someone did release a new decent emulator... Been here before and still waiting from that time... Also Wizzy would have released by now/ before he was serious... probably waiting for someone to blame why he won't release it.
