Build 0.0.0.2

A few core bug fixes so should be a bit more stable.

Coinworld CHR has been started. Its not automated yet but it will run Cash Cops if you invert the opto's of the reels. There is still a reel issue being looked into.
Bankswitching has been made better, there is still a bank switching issue with some games. Also some of the earlier BWB games appear to use yet another CHR method so am looking into why thats not working.

But still, its early doors and some very promising results. A LOT of BWB roms are running ok, and Coinworld doesnt look to far off. Ive been playing with the lamping driver to make it work a bit better, basically in preparation for dimmed lamps handling. Place Your Bets runs and Im starting to be able to detect the dimming on the nudges stack.

On the surface it looks very similar to the first issue, but a lot has happened under the hood, so to speak.

Thanks for the update, mate. The other reel issue you're having. Is it a flag thing? On MFME, you need to set a flag sometimes to get the reels working properly, so it might be that. The earlier BWB games that are giving you problems. Are they games like Sure Thing? I did try it on the first version of the emulator, but it was displaying something on the segs and wouldn't run.

I'll have a play with the updated version and see if I can get some other machines running on it. I'll try and keep a list as well. :)

Harlequin was one. The ones with the flashing segs appear to be a memory clear error followed by a CHR error, so I will be looking into those later. However, I'm going to see Jimmy carr in a bit, so wont be till much later.

If anyone can supply some MPU4 Coinworld Roms then I can see if I can do the CHR.

Sinbad is a Bank Switching issue and I'm buggered if I can get it right lol.

Right, here's all the known dumped BWB roms, over 200 sets. Most are MPU4, some MPU4 video, and some MPU5 but I couldn't be arsed to remove the 512k ones.

Also, here's the known Coinworld ones, 17 sets.

Cheers for the coinworld roms. I will leave it up to others to find out which BWB roms work and dont work. Then I can take a look at the ones that dont. I consider this a team effort, I'll write the emu, and you peeps can tell me what needs fixing.

Right, I'm off out...

Uh yeah, nightly builds lol, anyhow I'll do a release tomorrow.

Im working on the CHR's atm, I can make most games work with a manual set of the CHR, just working on the automatic CHR now.

Pretty much only Crystal Games cant be made to run now (with the exception of Frank n Stein).

There is also a timer IRQ bug that needs sorting. Once that is done, its time to make MPU3 work properly.

I need any and all suggestions for features people want to see in the emu, either for the editor or in game or otherwise.

The editor will be started when Sys83 is completed.

Bit of an update Ive not had much time to do stuff lately as real life reared its ugly head again. But here's the plan, subject to change etc etc.

Ive been adding in a 2nd lite emulation to run top boxes within the emu. Dimmed lamping is now in on the first 128 lamps and needs sorting for extenders. 7 segs are now driven off the dimming engine as its basically a lamp filament emulation, with a few tweaks it runs LEDs spot on. And because I revised the way it works its faster than the original non dimmed engine.

Aside from that we have a pretty good emu base for MPU4. I am *hoping* to get it finished in an emulation sense by the beginning of November, that leaves me 7 weeks to write the editor, some docs, and have the beta out by Xmas, with an inevitable bug fix update for the new year.

The editor will basically mimic MFME style with extra lamp pictures to cover dimming. However the editor will include an "undo" option which will store at least 100 past actions, the ability to "pick" lamps out from an on/off/dimmed image at the touch / click of a button. A converter to go to AND from MFME .dat at a click is being toyed with. Basically its a case of needing a large lamp extender, hopper info, sound, and a BWB chr tweak to allow german games. Those 4 things are all that's left in pure emulation terms (excluding crystal encryption), everything else is purely asthetic.

There will be two versions ala MFME an editor emu and a play only emu, mainly for speed purposes within the editor, a lot of cycles can be saved by removing a lot of redundant code for playing. I upgraded my PC so am now running at 4.35GHz which makes it hard to test how slow it will be on a 2Ghz~ machine.

Dimmed lamping, you get a real strobe effect where the lamps pulse on and off very quickly but its ever so subtle, if you are playing the game it looks pretty normal, but stare at the lamps in the viewer and you can just about see it, just like the real thing.

Anyhow, thats about where we are right now, getting there, but not "there" as such.
