just read through the old posts there, its funny how tastes change in regards to machine. Astra`s party SLUTTO seems to be as popular as ever, dispite people know it can suck thousands before giving a jackpot. The Barcrest range seem to be as popular as ever, though i personally hate playing on that has a top box. you are merely filling the machine for someone else to win.
Reel based fruit machines have died a miserable death. though i have to say that concepts red hot fever (£675 jp) was the best reel based ive ever played, giving a sense of true random spins.
As for the new £35 jp, it will be intersting to see where this goes. No arcade owner will be silly enough (IMO) to have ever machine on £35 simply because of the costs. A balanced arcade needs bar-x and variants, 3-players, a few section16`s and a balance of 5p/10p play £5, £25, £35 and £500 jp to cater for all tastes.

Don't forget to make an Under 118s area for me...And Dad likes Pinball too!

But seriously, Good Luck...Tell me the name and I'll visit sometime...And perhaps put an ugly mug to the name!

thanks ady.
The Brighton based arcade will sadly be either over 18`s or over 21`s (you`ll understand if you ever visit mid brighton). Ive spoke at length to Ady about our battler plan, and its basically going to be a direct hit on nobles, with every intention to take every customer from them, i.e. replace their £3 in token bingo with a free £50 draw, or something like pick a box and win upto £300. we currently do a £500 deal or no deal every thursday in a sister shop and that goes really well.
many thanks goto all those who believed in it happening.
(look like im getting the beers in.. shhhh dont tell moco)

Well done nails its all come good in the end.
I have thought about doing something like you have myself but probably couldnt handle the hassle of it all and I would imagine the initial setup costs would be huge.

lol ok.........i'll do it in One reply I hope...........
Nails and Co applied for a licence in an area dominated by Nobles..after a drawn process this has been approved.
Nails and Co will run an establishment designed to make money, but to be fairer to the gambler......Don't think any of us can grumble at that.
I don't know Nails personally, but as said I have spoken lot's on this being local.....from what I have been told and what Nails himself has said, in or around Brighton and *** and *** theres a fairer place to chance your dough.

I don't know the Nobles. I dont think I've been to that pat of Brighton. But is it just like what Nails & Co will be like except shiter?

London Road. ive also been given a name, but dont think i`ll be posting that here. its also hear-say so i dont know if there is any element of truth that the guy did it.
Carpet is firmly down in another arcade (burgess hill, west sussex) there is a 3rd arcade on the go, but lardlord is really not pushing himself.
would you have a shop, and keep it empty for 6 months? its a mainstream shop with a good foot traffic, just cant see why he would throw a good £10k away in lost rent.
must be loaded... (or a twat)

Ok, well alot has happened since i last wrote on this thread, i`ll try and get it in order...
Whilst i was getting ready to take over the reigns of the arcade, another one was completed first, but i was told that i was being kept for `bigger things`, i was happy to wait. finally just after christmas in 2007 i was told by a friend he had heared that the position was gonig to be given to the manager son. i asked the owner straight away and was told on the spot i was still the man for the job. alas, a week later i was told by the manager i was not needed, and the 2 years of waiting, getting the contract via sutherbys for the sitre and the counless man hours of work were all for nothing.
you have no idea how low i felt. my wife suggested to me that, rather than take this as the kick in the teeth it is, go forth an use all the knowledge i had learned and open my own arcade?? at first it seemed an impossible task, but once the seed had been planted in my heand, it festered and grew.
theres alot more to the story, but as of today, friday 14th 2007. i have taken a lease on a shop, with a full gaming licence, planning permission and premesis licence. Principle works will start on converting the shop from its a2 use, to its sui generis arcade use shop within days, with an estemated opening date of jan 2nd 2008. i know opening before christmans was a must. but c`est la vive.
though i will report on my progress, i would like to take this opportunity to give a big thanks to all who have asked me of progress and given their support, and a pint in the bin for ady, for not only supporting me, but for also being an understanding friend.
those of you wishing to open up their own arcade are more than welcome to ask away of the whole process.
