Amazing how this topics panned out starting off someone winning the BIG streak then its descended into a meaningfull topic all what yorkstar has said is my addiction to a T. Mine was same time ish , brother got me a job in chipshop and he studied everything on the topstop machine even writing down pages n pages of the hi lo number sequences thinking he'd crack the machine and empty it then I had a go probably lost can't remember but from that day on fruit's were / are my life, once a gambler always a gambler we'll never be totally cured of the addiction, same as yorkstar my teen years consisted of fruits, fruits and more fruits . no proper relationships till mid 20,s , no money still no money but one good thing has come out of this story . this emulation site okay it's not helping the addiction but at least it don't cost a ton and I'm getting the kicks for free. Plus I'm for the last three years, making my own machine's for my pleasures ,its a great feeling making and playing the end result also knowing other members in the same situation enjoy my work.

TOPSTOP !!!, one of my all time favourite machines, I couldn't wait for it to be emulated.

 

I think when it comes to addiction, it depends on what floats your boat. For some they have not really known anything but the FOBTs and online betting, so that's their addiction and playing anything with less than a £100 jackpot, isn't worth their time. I've mates who weren't old enough to gamble, until after token jackpot disappeared and they say what's the point, how boring, when I mention machines paying out the new bigger £4.80 jackpot. But that's because they look only at the jackpot and nothing else. We even have members at The Mecca, who gave up, once the MPU3 era was finished, cause they hated MPU4 era machines. I personally find the MPU3 era boring, so wouldn't have had any issues, if MPU3 machines were the only option in the 90's. 

 

My addiction stopped, when I stepped away for the best part of a year and realised, yes I don't need or indeed miss these things being in my life, on an almost daily basis. Like someone said earlier, I don't believe I could have quit in the 90's, because machines were enjoyable to play and innovative ideas were always around the corner. Up until the late 90's, I'd miss out on evenings out and go out of my way on a train journey, just to go to an arcade to play.

 

Nothing about now in arcades, particularly makes me, want to go even 5 minutes out of my way to play. That's because I know how fun fruities were and now the AWP market is full of no innovation and is dying on it's backside, so there is little left to be addicted to for me in this respect.

 

Now, yes I like the £500 + machines, but they are deadly, I realise that and therefore, the arcade environment nowadays does me a favour, because, that alone is enough to make me stay away from such machines. Bookies are just as bad, I'd be extremely concerned to be by myself and walk out with a £500 jackpot in my wallet at the bookies around my town, so again, I wouldn't even bother playing them. Online wise, I used to do £50 a week on the Starspins website, but for the past 3 months, haven't done anything, because I excluded for a month and didn't miss playing once a week, so have extended the exclusion for another month, twice. Again all about breaking that habit and having a good think, about whether you really need to waste money playing them regularly.

Go easy on him though mate.  I mean he's clearly living the dream here; absolutely smashing it to pieces, £15 tops all over the place on these 10 year-old machines at the height of summer.

I know fruitmachineaddict, has acted a bit childish in this thread, but I really hate seeing young people, ruining and wasting, their young and possible whole life, gambling. I hope they aren't actually over their head already and eventually will realise, it's no good blaming the machine or the manufacturer for any losses.
 
When I was still addicted, the amount of times, I would swear and kick the machine and wish hell on Barcrest, Bell Fruit, Electrocoin, for producing these rip off machines. I still visit the gamcare forums and it's common, to see the blame being put on the bookies etc....for the amount of money people have lost. Until someone realises they can only blame themselves for the amount they put into machines or other gambling, they are unlikely to be ready to quit.
 
As for arcades, well, even when I was addicted, I would tell kids that were offering me advice (yeah right) on the 18+ only machines. Remember this conversation, because I can tell you, these things will ruining your life and your families life, if you ever allow yourself to get addicted to them, please don't let that happen to you, cause I've allowed them to rule my life so far.
 
So glad when I was young, these fobt weren't around, I reckon, I'd have been in so much debt, I would never have ever been able to turn things around.

Hahahahahahahha if you was a pro you'd know what a FOBT is, listen mate it stands for fixed odds, they're random and it sounds like your brain is random as you don't know how FOBTs work, if you learned the programs on AWPs like me you'd be smashing every machine in town son, money maker, money rising from the AWPs, learn the programs and don't be a random idiot playing a random machine hahahahahahahahahha, God help you son I feel for you

I don't go to arcades certanly as much these days, I must admit that's mostly because I've worked constantly for last 15 odd year 5 sometimes 6 days a week, it's a good thing cause I would defintely ended up back in them with more time or at a loose end.
No matter how bad arcades are you never loose that gambling urge, and after 20 plus year, very hard to shake of. So on various weekends arcades bingos whatever, I still sometimes venture in, mostly chasing streaks on bar x 7s, or trying several quids in different fruits looking for ready or full ones to take a punt on, but gladly I've certanly cut down from back in the day.
On line gambling as been dangerous In the past, so easy accesible, very easy to have a few beers and get involved, 5am in the morning and maybe 700 hundread plus involved on Lady Luck charm waiting for the big pink ball drop.
I still have a bash online now and again, but have put a 20 pound limit on 3 sites.

Again if you was a pro you wouldn't play online, God help you you need to learn son I feel for you bruv, playing FOBT and now online, like I said learn the programs sweet cool

Cool bruv not a great selection of reds tho son get ripping and setting up round the bend tho yeah and I don't bother with Andy Capp son Its 2015 as for red x as long as you know the rip to get the £75 early in fact no I always get £100 top on red x next board you can rip number runner for £25 but the top will be blocked, good info for you right there
