Cheers mate, to be fair I be lucky to find many reds round here anymore, used to be great pub fruits in the 25 quid days.

Randomly I have had an Andy Capp turn up in my local arcade, your welcome to come over and have a play for old times sake.👍

Classic old school fruits it's the future.

I was in Great Yarmouth on Wednesday and it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, having not been there for well over 10 years.  All of the arcades have the same stuff though, and that's because there are hardly any manufacturers left so there's no variety.  Lots of Golden Games but I didn't play any because I expected them to be burnt.  Saw a BWB/Maygay Monopoly and a Project The Roll, but few other classics.  Pottered around and made a few quid to cover food and then ended up in the Palace Casino.  Rained most of the day but I reckon when the weather is nice it would be lovely there - a lot better than what I hear from most people.

snap, i was there wednesday/thursday too.  started in gt yarmouth, then sea palling, sherringham and back to hemsby and gt yarmouth. bit of fallen angels at night then off to gorestown by sea in the morning.

I've never been a lo-tech fan ever, even Nudge Nudge Wink Wink era machines, weren't as exciting to play as a hi-tech AWPs.

Not being in any circles or groups, to know about software bugs and when a machine is more likely to play, I simply got raped by lo-techs most of the times, I have played them over the years.

It's like when an arcade machine player of the 80's and early 90's, goes into an arcade now and is disappointed at what these places have become, I think those of us, who remember the 80's and early 90's are also disappointed at the state of arcades now that were fruit machine orientated in general.

Having said that, machines of the 80's and 90's may well have been more fun, but that's not to say, many of us haven't done thousands upon thousands in them over the years, so they certainly aren't something to look back that fondly on.

When I now go into an arcade, I quite honestly feel dirty, I feel like, I'm amongst the scallies and sharks, trying to get the money for their next fix or waiting for some poor mug to lose their money, ready for them to pounce. Been done a few times on machines, which clearly have had some low-life using some exploit to empty the machines.

I very rarely play in arcades nowadays, unless it's a go on the £500 machines, but then it's usually £20 in each with a couple of mates. Even if you win, the chances are the place won't have, or will pretend not to have the notes to pay/change up the £200 + coins you've won.

If I do gamble on slots now, I prefer to do it in a proper casino, where, I can have a drink, eat and have a relax and watch the sports on the tv and not be surrounded by people, who you feel are watching your every move. Also to know if I do win, I haven't got to worry about machines not paying out and having pockets full of coins that I can't change up.

wearcity you've hit the nail on the head, this is exactly how I feel when I gamble which is very rarely now. when I go into a arcade I want to feel welcome not have people constantly counting every quid you put in or take out, also I like the machine's to work properly something severely lacking in todays arcades as said many times how much does glass cleaner and a few mini bulbs actually cost. Poor maintenance equally shitty arcades and drop in profits as with all businesses first rule, if there's s*it  on the windows the customers won,t be in pure  n simples.  I do feel the late 80's early 90's were the best gambling times for me but that's probably because that's where it all started for me and yes I lost a load in them in them times and after. If I counted every coin I shoved in a slot real and online in has to be in excess on £75K Or even over £100,000 over my 25yrs of shame.

Why do we do it... It all starts as a bit of fun just like fags n drugs a buzz when you win a downer when you lose but then it takes over, it becomes you life n soul eventually becoming your life every breathing second

Yes completely agree, and yes it's easy to look fondly of the good old days better fruits, gameplay,e.t.c but you also forget the times going skint, spending your Weeks wage on a Friday in the arcade, been on a night out and and spend last of money in the fruit and end up walking home, spend money on fruits, you don't have, causing issues in relationships.

Yep after playing fruites over 20 year there's been plenty of down times amongst some gud times.

once you get the fruit bug it's hard to shake of,a combination of reasons fruits take over half of your life, are entertainment, the buzz of winning, boredom, time to kill, start of the day getting that winning feeling, addiction, chasing losses, and probaly a canny few more.

Anyway rant over.

The op started out 30 years too late! There's nothing worth playing in arcades these days. Cos most of the arcades don't have many customers!
Back in the 80's and 90's arcades were packed with customers and pumping the fruit machines and we used to catch the machines at the right time and emptied its contents out of the tubes! (Before hoppers came out)
Online casinos have taken over as well these horrible fbot's in bookies!
Yes it's a shame that amusement arcades are being killed off.

I'm the same in terms of not finding emptiers, like ya say wearecity it's about been in certain circles with people in the know with engineers, to get to know the software bugs.
It is slightly annoying playing fruites and not never getting at least 1 proper emptier, and it seems over the years there has been a lot.

The closet I've become is maybe the vamp it up trick, jacky of pick a reel first feature, and that's not an emptier, or quite a few were chipped, apart from that it was daft stuff like holding all the reels on temple of treasure on follow f me, looking for certain signs on machines, good bonuses e.t.c, if it's dropping, forcing certain fruites at certain times all that stuff.

And as for arcades, yes quite a few these days you walk in and feel like a criminal, the atendants stairing at your every move, especially when arcade is quiet which is fairly common, like I say still a few ok busy arcades but not to many.

Oh, I had to google hemsby! Just seen pics of the old pontins site! As some say pontins is chav city lol! But be good to get that site up running then the arcades would make money off all these holiday makers!

Yep mabby many factors why arcades have been declining, the recession starting a while back, all these new digital gadgets with games on, ps3,4 keeping many happy, the smoking ban, the bookies have stole many peoples funds with fobt and left them skint.
Good playable token machines been
Replaced, good hi tech playable fruits now placed with the same old deal or no deal tosh, or reflex boring stuff, lots of 500 quid money gobbling machines, and basically just loads of poor machines.

There are other reasons I'm sure but just look at these ones I've named and it's no suprise why arcades are struggling or have closed.

And I've already mentioned the dodgy atmosphere in certain arcades, feel dirty, like criminal, being stalked, e.t.c

And also yes online gaming will be a massive reason, with many casino/ betting sites with bonuses now available.
