time for me to put my 2p`s worth in...

Duplu owns the site, and he has moderators to which he trusts to comb the forums and see that some sort of law and order takes place.

If Ady for example (a good friend of mine) happens to find fault in any of my posts, i can expaect him to PM me and or edit the post in question. its as plain as that. My options here would be to either thank Ady for correcting me or question his judgement and ask for it to be ammended, failing that i would approach Duplu for clarification.

Whilst most if not all have been drunk at the keyboard one time or another, ive never forgotten that this is NOT my site, and that respect to other members - includng mods and the owner of the site, is always due.

But surely then if you get to a stage where you have one moderator and a few of his mates who run the site for their own means even though the silent majority don't agree with them the site ends up being a playground for a select few (which I think was the purpose of these threads being started). Taking Duplu out of the equation (although the members pay subs and Duplu has always stated it's ran for their benefit... Part of the problem is if the needs of the few outweigh the many, forcing several people to just read the forums nowadays rather than participate actively. I know several people who I chat to who seriously believe that the site has been taken over by a select few so just read and download now.

Problem is Alth is a good guy, I say that in private and in public....thing is though...here and everywhere he has the status of being a trouble-maker.

This thread arose because Alth got knocky at threads being moved, I was accused....the person/s who had edited them spoke up in this thread...

That wasn't enough for Alth...he had to carry on-and-on......

Is this thread really a hot topic?, none of us Mods were aware of any problems....and still arn't.

The thing with the forum 'rules' is that they were typed up by Wozza when the forum first started over 5 years ago. We now have over 50,000 members and the forums are far more active than they have ever been making the 'Rules' inadequate.

Given that various parties are always quoting that they are 'adults' and know their own boundaries I haven't seen the need to update the rules. Also we have an excellent set of mods who are well respected and I trust without a doubt to make decisions that are both sensible and I am comfortable with.

If people want clear rules written then I will write them but to be honest these rules won't say anything different than you would expect to find on any other responsible forum.

If you want me to clarify any recent moderating decisions then post here and I'll tell you the reason why the decision was made.

It was definitely not for swearing. It was for a number of reasons that when combined left the moderators with no alternative. As I understand it (not being directly involved myself) this related to continual request to tone down his posts, complaints from other members and PM request to change his signature.

It was a Portuguese language statement relating to the kidnapping of Maddie. Problem is it has been here for 18 month or so. So to ban him now over it seems a bit daft. I would have just banned him for being a c*unt and be done with it....

I'm still not sure what Alth's sig has to do with him being banned. Yes, I agree it's not the nicest sig in the world but unless you actually speak Portuguese or go to the trouble of googling it (and why would you unless you are out to cause trouble?) then it's meaningless to most. If that's how he feels then fine. Leave him to it.

Look at those space cadets who took over Stanstead this morning for example. How many holidays or travel plans did they ruin because of their beliefs? Some agree with what they did and some don't!!! Personally I'd have panned their little Beatnik heads in for ruining my holiday, lol.

What I'm trying to say is that the last time I looked, this country is about freedom of speech. Just because someone doesn't like what you say, doesn't mean that others have the right to ban you.

If it's infringing on Government law then fair enough. Ban them...but if it's just a few people having a whine then just get on with it.

If, as Duplu states, there were other reasons for banning Alth, that infringe on the rules, then fair enough....but you can't ban someone because of their "opinion".

So you think the site has been taken over by a 'select few' yes? I really am sorry that you think this is the case. I was asked to be a moderator to aid in the daily upkeep of the site. Not to impose my will. Sometimes things can get a little bit out of hand or a little excessive. And it needs to be reigned in. If you feel my behaviour is unacceptable, you can of course contact the sites webmaster. I pesonally have no gripe against you. I sort of understand what your on about but feel it's pretty much unfounded. I'd much prefer it to come to a conclusion thats convenient for both yourself, and me also, rather than it to continue to eat away at you, and for it to keep rearing it's head on the site at every opportunity.

There was never a problem with the word used in the correct context. I'm not going to debate wether Geddy's example above is or isn't, but I will point out however that it's not in bold, not sized up, and most definately isn't used to degrade women. To emphacise the word means you wish to bring attention to it. That happened, and you didn't get the response you expected. Maybe you expected posts of applause and back slapping for being so bold.


At the end of the day, the moderators here have to carefully consider any requests or complains made by other members. It's not always a desirable thing to do but sometimes actions have to be taken. If we ignored everyones concerns, we'd soon be sharing the webspace with viagra ad's, offensive images and losing members due to them being offended by the sites content. I'm not happy with what happened. I only wish a little bit more restraint was taken with the initial post. Humility seems to be one asset that is lacking these days.

I will conceed though that I made an error of judgement with you over that initial post. I should have PM'd you about the concerns in the post and given you the opportunity to adjust the post yourself. As I think the simple modification of the post myself is what is agitating things here. I apologise for that. It was something done without thought at the time. I'm not trying to hide behind excuses, but you live and learn I guess. My first attempt at moderating something and I went the wrong way about it.

Hmmm..so mabye the 2 of you ought to name these individuals who have..taken over the site. and i suggest you have pretty good evidence to back up your claims.

If not i suggest you shut up and come back when you know what your talking about.

Out of say..75-100 members who are active on here on a daily basis..ie posting on the forums regularly i can think of only 1 well 2 now..that the 1st hint of an argument or trouble on the forums..the wooden spoon comes out.

Yawn same old crap Todd (I post on here more than FF as I always have done yet all you can ever say is go back there as if they are exclusive to each other) - you are one of the few people on here who seems to think they run the site if you want names - you have dissapeared up your own behind. I am not getting in to a slanging match on this as the other 5 people will all jump in in your favour, while the majority will sit and watch as they know if they comment you will all jump on them. By the way I would never have included Compost in the people who think they come before all the members on here - he has always been measured and considerate as have 99.9 percent of the members on the site. Kriss/ HT6, HTB, RB, Cardie, DAD, £6IT, Gaz,Gazeyre, Guitar, Baz, Steve, JohnnyAFC, Captain, Saynowt, Robinhood, Deanno and many others are stirling characters who I will always have time for.

The usual I suggest you shut up because I'm a moderator tone - yawn!!
