#327496 Future of AWP

Posted by treasure island on 24 July 2019 - 03:37 AM in Real Fruit Machines

An interesting thread, i rarely get chance to post or even look in on forums, and often wary too with the comments going OTT etc.. my own forum suffers from this too tbh

I am Dave from Mr P's Classic Amusements, I say Dave 'from' because I don't see the arcades as mine, I see them as something of a legacy, like or loathe gambling.

Since a young boy I loved the buzz of the arcade, but this wasn't because I was hooked or attracted to flashing lights (in a trance like state) or any other reason, I just was attracted to anything entertainment based and I liked 'chance'.

Reading through some of the thread it is interesting to see the thoughts of others. For me I love gambling, I am no hypocrite to it, I enjoy it, yes naturally it can be too much for some, I completely see and endorse that.

As a kid i loved dice, cards, anything with chance.

My Dad, the only time I saw him sober was to say goodbye to him at 53, I don't have a thing against alcohol. Over the years of the FOBT due to its easy access I lost a colossal amount to roulette, I lost it not the roulette lost it for me, it was me that spent and wagered the money. I have nothing against roulette and I support the game being in a regulated establishment like a casino, where it belongs.

I like food, if I eat and eat I will enjoy it, but then when I was to not be able to stand I wouldn't like food but it would be myself and not the food that is the problem, although like gambling, alcohol and food many other things they can be addictive, psychologically, and yes it can be a problem.

This post is a balanced view (well I guess my view) and for me being a player at heart, anyone who has met me will know how hard of a battle it has been to round up the machines that we have and the consumption of life to give to the people what I would love to enjoy; classic amusements.

I rent my house, I have no savings, I actually cannot stand money, I care about my team and treat them as family, so aside from bringing back memories for people to enjoy the old games that (at the time they were current) were too high stake, our players can enjoy stakes and prizes frozen in time. Naturally there will be some that will always play for the money, but as we always strive to drum into people is to play for the game and you will enjoy yourself and spend what you wanted to. If you play to win you cannot win because you will try to win £50, get to £100 and then put the invincible cloak on and aspire for more, and more until WALLOP, a inevitable white knuckle ride of tilt.

I am not a businessman, nor do I wish to be, I am a gambler who enjoys the risk in life, and will always be this way. If i took risks on stocks or business deals or bought and sold I would be seen as clever and wise, but if the deals went wrong or the stocks crashed it would be deemed 'unlucky' - ring any bells lol.

Life for each and every person is different because of the hand we are dealt and the cards that we change over the time will change our direction in life and some believe our destiny. Some people have the cruelest starts in life and some do not even make it, and that there are no words for, but we all do what we can, the best we can.

Our minds are influenced everyday, more than we know. We collect our nectar points or get our social media fixes, not knowing that the spoon feeding background influences are already underway, the prompts that we see, as we carry on our normal day to day lives.

With mention above of kids gambling etc, it is something I enjoyed as I was growing up but fruits were cool and appealing to lots of us youngsters back then, as were video games IN THE ARCADE, not at home as the arcade games were cutting edge. Time has revolved and OK, although our old machines will naturally not be much of an appeal to a young person as a DOND will be, the young players are very few and far between, and declining.

My view is that there is still a place for the 10p £5 machine, as if its a well coded game, its a fun machine and worthy of being pay to play with much smaller risk to a young person. 25 years ago a £5 was worth winning and I was winning them, but now a £5 win is almost laughable, but still the activity of gambling is as delicate as other things. Now that over 16's on fruits or must be accompanied by an adult is a good move, and still allows enjoyment for a family if they want to actually engage in an activity that is supposed treated and taken to be fun.

Mentioned on a post also was our percentages, we do run all of our games on high % and even the £5 stuff on is on 90% on many games because one it keeps losses minimal and another reason is it does put FUN back into the machines.

Most of our players are people that come from all of the UK, but as even local people try us they see the difference in gameplay and see its fun. Again, I do not ignore that some take it too far and it can become an issue. We do engage with our players because its our passion and often their passion too, so to meet fellow minded people makes this journey for us worthwhile.

As my youngest daughter has just woken up (AGAIN) I will have to cut this short, mind you I have probably bored you all by now, but to summarise..

I don't think that there is a 'one size fits all' answer to anything in the world, and nor should there be. We can blame the fruits, the lottery, the horses, the pools, the football acca's or we can blame ourselves if we go too deep, for me the issue will lie with me if I lose XX.XX on something. When I had a flutter online, and I spent my credit cards as angry/frustrated as I was, it was my own fault (and btw I detest online gambling) but I always look to take a positive from a negative, then it becomes a neutral, I realised the danger that IF I owned a house I could lose my house IN my house! For me that was no longer something I could look as enjoyment. Perhaps it being on a screen made it too easy to spend the money, I do not know but these fingers that are typing this now are the ones that did it, taking direction from my brain, so I did it, knowing I should of stopped, but the greed of the chase and ME not listening to my own advice made me play to win, and of course if you PLAY TO WIN, you CANNOT win, because your will always want more. I could argue that the stakes were too high or prize were beyond my dreams, but I chose to play it and chose to keep spending.

Set youself a limit, be it booze, gambling, eating or collecting things (just as addictive btw and can be as costly often confused with investing but we all do it) and if you can't then its not for you. If its not fun then time to sort it as we have one life, we have to have fun. One thing though, we come in with nothing and we go out with nothing and the worst addiction in life is being addicted to money. You cannot be rich in life and rich in money and I once knew somebody that was so poor that all he had in life was money.

All the best all and no intentions whatsoever to offend or upset, life is too short, and be assured I write this as a player not an 'operator' which I hate to be branded, but as a fellow player of life, I bid you farewell,

Dave aka Mr P's Classic Amusements

#282367 Jumping Jack Flash Pics

Posted by treasure island on 25 June 2015 - 10:18 PM in General FME Discussion

I will do my very best to get some nice pics of this. It's awkward as we have a mirrored style ceiling and lots of lights strobing here and there lol. I can take a load with the lights off and then put it into lamp test and take some with it on! It's always manic so I will do my very best but I am always working tirelessly to keep the machines running plus anything that comes into the arcade as a new find is always within an inch of its life and needs 20 hours work sometimes! That jumping jack cash was rotten when we got it, not seen one that bad for a while, there are three machines rolled into one as the original cabinet fell apart lol

Thank you all for the kind words, we love it when fellow machine lovers come down. Always happy to help the scene I just don't get any time to do anything! I had that many problems today that I was four hours on and off bulbing a rocky horror show as problems and some issues I have for breakfast tomorrow

#279304 £30 note !

Posted by treasure island on 27 February 2015 - 11:57 PM in Any Topic Chat

I saw that in coinslot but assumed it was a typo. I did briefly check royal mint and no mention of a £30 note. It would make sense to have one though as £20-£50 is a typical bell fruit jump, nothing in between lol

#277756 PROCONN - Jackpot 7's £10/20p 1024Wdx

Posted by treasure island on 25 January 2015 - 08:33 PM in New Releases

Yeah the £10 jp Jackpot 7s and £10 crazy pays in this cabinet are brilliant, if you set them to 90% they hold 8/9 times on £10/8 wins!

Jackpot jungle is one of the better 'older' games in the £8/10 era.

Yes as we all say you cant beat the originals, but tbh these casino versions give the originals a good run for their money! Always chase-able holds!

#273854 Video Based Bpak Files

Posted by treasure island on 03 September 2014 - 08:17 PM in Real Fruit Machines

My mate has just corrupted his Elvis Smash Hits. Does anybody have the bpak for it as the only bpak on the repro is the corrupt one that after reading this thread is still destroying peoples hard drives. Cliff needs to remove this urgently! I will PM him and send him an email to his personal account.

Any help would be appreciated!

#272923 JPM popeye system 5 HELP

Its not coming out of reset. The board probably has suffered battery corrosion.

#272502 Wanted:

Posted by treasure island on 28 July 2014 - 03:54 PM in Real Fruit Machines

We have a Jungle Jackpots in our collection. Sorry though we are unlikely to sell it. I will certainly keep my eyes out for you, especially after the personal attachment you would have with one, very sad.

Donna Kebab is not as good as King Kebab (in my opinion) as its full of bugs, can even kill you on an invincible board!

Crystal Maze is a needle in a haystack, we have publicly offered £500 for a mint artwork crystal on 20p £6/8/10 and no joy at all.

Good luck with your finds....as they say...happy hunting! lol

#263747 JUST BEEN BARRED !

Posted by treasure island on 16 February 2014 - 09:13 PM in Real Fruit Machines

The industry seems to have forgotten the old age saying....

The Machine is there to be beaten....

Why should the house always win? It shouldn't and it is part of the fun of operating an AMUSEMENT arcade....the most fundamental point and goal should be to provide people with ENTERTAINMENT and the financials should not be acknowledged unless people start going in over their heads (spending too much). As we all know, the machine is governed by a percentage payout, so it is afterall designed to make money...

This is the problem you get with high stake gambling (£1 play etc)....the owners do not see what is being STAKED, only what is being won (or should I say recouped).

I feel for you Nails, it is disgusting. Really should not be allowed.

To think we actually HELP people win in our arcade (skills, codes etc).....we are either bonkers or the only people who actually want to deliver entertainment and not deter from the Amusement in AWP.

It is the greedy operators (I call them money men) that has put the industry onto the brink of collapse.

Take the new £100 Jackpot....its a recession...people are SKINT....ok....lets increase the odds of winning the jackpot by stretching the game to 100-1 (assuming of course you play £1 a game).

Bizarre world we live in...

#262962 Possibly one of the greatest Epoch games ever...

Posted by treasure island on 22 January 2014 - 11:28 PM in Real Fruit Machines

We have almost all of the decent Epoch games, and some mega rare ones too. The LED board is some sort of extender board with custom chips on, its weird. Put it this way, we have had to repair it a few times, and this last repair was a biggie. Basically it is one of those boards that if it dies we are in soup!

Cyclone was an awesome game, would be nice to see a pic. What version is your Inka roms? Same as ours?

#262956 Possibly one of the greatest Epoch games ever...

Posted by treasure island on 22 January 2014 - 09:40 PM in Real Fruit Machines

Cashino has an additional lamp driver board, very different to the standard lamp board that drives all of the other lamps. This separate board controls the LED lighting. Maybe somehow you have the emulator running this, but it is a special board just for Cashino as far as I know....well I have never seen one.

We have 1.0 in the machine (original program). As for Inky (Inka DInka Doo) we have 1.0 as well. Depending on the popularity of Cashino (sure it will be VERY popular) we may introduce Bubble & Squeak and Inka.

Viper Jive was a bit of a flop as it was a harsh machine to force. If I could find and original program Cyclone by Extreme then I would be over the moon.

#262922 Possibly one of the greatest Epoch games ever...

Posted by treasure island on 21 January 2014 - 11:34 PM in Real Fruit Machines

No its EPOCH, hence the title lol!

#262920 Possibly one of the greatest Epoch games ever...

Posted by treasure island on 21 January 2014 - 11:09 PM in Real Fruit Machines

As there is much talk about the Epoch games etc I thought I would share this fantastic Epoch game from Extreme Gaming. This was when Extreme Gaming was owned by the Maygay group of companies (also owners of Impulse, Global). Although the emulator would never be able to run the add on boards and control the LED lighting, this still is something we feel you should see...

Enjoy...

#257681 best looking fruit machine artwork

Posted by treasure island on 12 September 2013 - 10:45 PM in Real Fruit Machines

Tough one this...

Out of all the machines we have....its got to be either Albert Square (3d Eastenders), Sphinx/Pyramid/Labyrinth, Magnificent 7s ....yes these are all 3d

So 2d would be either JPM Untouchable, Let the Good Times Roll and Viz is fun.

To be honest we love them all so it is impossible to say lol

For newer games Sub Zero by Red Gaming always stood out for me.

#250976 A bit of fruity porn!

Posted by treasure island on 01 May 2013 - 12:21 AM in Real Fruit Machines

132 machines lol!

Instant is the mental version, goes crazy. Even rolls them in sometimes, set on 10p £4.

The machine that predominantly played No Limit was PCP Funhouse on the feature and Cup Final with line 1 (UL Nudges). I cant think of a Maygay, they were more into Madness music and a bit of the Pet Shop Boys, Bananarama. Yazz, Stranglers etc but I may be having a mind block....comes with age lol.

Although I can never play anything in there I do get a buzz walking in there....its awesome to see them all lined up.

#250934 A bit of fruity porn!

Officially launched last Saturday...

Here is Reel Fruits Maidstone.

Probably bundles of resources needed. I have been asked for some recently and have dumped the roms, but not done the pics just yet.

#241536 Name Something A Fruit Has Never Done....... But Could Do...

Posted by treasure island on 09 October 2012 - 08:15 PM in Real Fruit Machines

Interesting...

Barmy Army will allow you to survive on target practice on version 0.1. This version was quickly critical updated due to the middle being too easy to get.

Our Pink Panther regularly gives advance to Eiffel on the first magnify! When you say ocean zone do you mean the chest, that gives Jackpot quite often on 3.0. I have only seen the robot give the jackpot ONCE. It is a weird game though as it loves to cheat on Pyramid from time to time.

Interesting on Corrie, as that goes part 2 most of the time on ours! Maybe we have better programs! lol! Many of the versions that have done this to you guys have been the rebuild versions??? We have the originals mostly.

I certainly agree with the 'Slider' on Fruit Explosion though, seen it on the £10 versions and even £15's but never the £5 ones.

For the Blue Simpsons (simpsons 2) they cannot repeat or go red on 5p/10p but on 20p £5 they can and FLY! I did buy one a year or so ago and enjoyed it at home for a bit on 20p £5....most boards are red. But when you compare it in fairness to the player with Great Escape and Italian Job 1 then there is no comparison!

Anyone know what the repeat spin repeat spin is for on Barcrest Rocket Money as it lights up but is inactive at all times it seems!

Just to say thanks for this. Spent a fair bit of time on it today! Much appreciated!

Ps not that you need to, but as I do have the actual machine if you ever need anything in the future let me know!
