I thought they still used railways. I have seen several great long trains with Royal Mail on going thru Northampton Station. Mind, maybe they are rented out.
The thing with the Scottish one was that someone wanted them to pay for European Airmail rather than first/second class. As long as my post arrives safely, I am happy enough. I am just happy that out of the 100's of parcels sent last year, only about 3 or 4 have gone missing. Not too bad really.
Just Googled that and it appears (though a 3 year old BBC thread) you are right, must admit after the TPO's (Travelling Post Offices) were scrapped it must have been realised that the Trains were of some use.
Sorry Paul, that really was news to me....i'll try asking the percentage of carried mail and post it, can do as this is an educational thread now lol.
A fact now though.....British Airways Aircraft...seen the RM logo below the captain on the outside of the Planes?
