Well done, at least your attitude and practices have shown us why machine base is a bad idea after all.
I guess people with money problems who have a pc or laptop (higher end), internet connection, etc etc to run mfme obviously can't part with a fiver at least to support a chosen fruit site?

It is just strange to read comments and statements that are so far from the truth it is bizarre.

Do you understand what you are saying? If these websites become unused and unwanted, where will layouts etc be uploaded to? Where will they be hosted for "circumvention" software to be used?

 

I thoroughly understand the "it is my layout and work." attitude. May i request you put a few days/weeks into making a quality DX layout, then see people selling it as a package online, making money from your work and see how it feels.

 

If this is how you feel, then you are sadly in the wrong place i am afraid.

If they "Donate", they get extra privileges such as being able to download "X" amount of layouts in a session or access paid members areas. No Charges are forcably being made!

You seem to have had a personal issue of theft with another person "many years ago", that is nothing to do with the FME scene, that is not the FME scene's fault, nor can it be blamed for individual circumstances.

 

I still fail to see where the above issue is "greed" ? It isn't greed, it is pure selfishness by one person, at the worst, theft.

 

Selfishness will never change. I have become more selfish over the last few years. I have sourced many,many machine roms/resources, buying them, borrowing them for the scene. Unfortunately when i have asked for things i want, several times, the excuses roll from tongues with the greatest of ease. These things i requested are buried, at the back of the shed, need rooting out, the dog is guarding them, etc etc. You can imagine where i am coming from. It has got to the extent now where i thought, haha, no more. What i source now is mine and..... others who i look to with respect that help and like to be helped.

 

My final note on this is that FME involves no monetary requirements whatsoever. People can download the emulator and the games completely free of charge. They don't have to pay to join "most" FME sites, other than to enhance their level and download more items in a period of time.

It was a rushed uncommunicated project that has become derailed. The idea of circumventing the emulation sites for downloads was the first failure.

Not sure why someone made them comment, where the "greed" is shining through? This again makes no sense. It is for the love of the scene that people host these sites where hopefully others can come, download a game, play it and leave feedback for the creator. If they wish to stick around the scene and help it grow, a small donation is made to unlock member privileges that allows more frequent downloading of machines. These donations pay for the hosting and upkeep of the sites.
There is no greed, no money making, no profit. No one is held to ransom.

Nothing will be gained from software that enables anyone to take from these sites without such as a hello, thank you or goodbye. How will this keep the scene moving forward?

This software could bring "greedy" people out of the woodwork as it would enable them to mass download, place onto other media and possibly advertise for sale on auction sites..... profiteering from others work.

Maybe something can be incorporated into the sites security to stop software such as this enabling mass downloads etc without joining .

If the hosting sites and forums are not around, the scene dies or ends up going (back) underground which will be no benefit to anyone just taking their first steps into FME.

The "scene" has survived a lot of turmoil for many, many years.

 

I seriously doubt the "scene" is becoming ever smaller, in fact i would go as far as to say it has grown and blossomed with the release of Mfme 6 onwards.

 

I am sure there is no need for sadness.

I know this is aimed at me, and I do understand it. If it wasn't approved for a few days it wouldn't have been a problem. I simply wanted to make someone aware that a donation had been made and an account waiting to be updated - just in case no one had been notified.

It is you that has hijacked another members welcome thread again surmising I was talking about you. You aren't the only one that has been here over the years, evidently with a chip on the shoulder, spouting off. You won't be the last.

Maybe just keep to reading, downloading and maybe give constructive input if possible,instead of jumping to conclusions.

However that doesn’t preclude us having Dutch layouts on here, unless it’s perhaps one of the lesser known consequences of Brexit?

 

Probably more to do with the fact there maybe very little interest in Dutch machines in the UK.

 

I am sure if anyone has European machine roms, can be bothered to take the time to try and find out what is actually going on in the game, translate the Alpha language if there is any, make the actual layout and upload it then they would.

 

The lack of the above probably precludes the lack of these machines on UK emulation sites.

 

I couldn't be bothered with them whatsoever so forwarded what i believe to be a number of Scorp2 era roms to a (possible) German chap at the Mecca.

 

But yes, as to answer your question, anyone who has them can upload if they wish....

This machine spanked my arse around 25 years ago. Put a lot in it with nothing out. Had to miss the night out we were going to go on because of the tightness of the machine and my stupidity...

Another favourite of mine, had a wicked streak in it.

 

Back a couple of years ago........or a few more, this machine bought us a Tv with built in DVD player and our sunday lunch + drinks....

 

Think i put £5 ish in it, it gave 3 invincibles and the last one repeated twice, finally gave about £8 playing the credits off before it died... 

 

£80+ from a £15 jp machine with £5 in was a good random hit.

Let's just say Innefection has been around long enough to know what is required to get a dx out of images.

As I have said on previous posts, stupidity is unfortunately incurable.

If the lamps are flashing and not permanently on as in they flash in attract
Mode etc but they are the wrong lamp that is lighting at the wrong time it seems like wires have been crossed. Maybe wrong wires to wrong lamp row, lampholders have been connected to wiring wrong way around, diode in lampholders is not working, diode has been bypassed or is shorting wiring pressed to lampholders. Start by checking these.

If wiring is definitely fine then you have transistors that are damaged on the lamp board. One ore more will be short cct so the lamps it/they control are always on.
New / different lamp board or repair needed.

£150 to £200 on a good day.
It will sell what it sells for, it will do d it's value if you start it about £100.

Guess this is the same machine that you were sending me the roms or board (which I was returning) to you back in December that I am still waiting for a reply about.
The machine was supposed to be rotting then so it ain't gonna work now.
And yes the island you live on, the Isle Of Wight I think you said is in the UK, so postage would be as to send anywhere in the mainland, not that it mattered as I was willing to cover the cost to dump the sound roms to make the machine available but again...... no reply. Thanks.

It will only get worse.
If you can't fix the board yourself, you will probably need a new one. Not cheap.

I would agree, have lots of these type / similar files and was told PL6 previously.
