Pacman Fruit Machine Advise Needed

05 March 2016 - 12:05 PM

I have a Bell Fruit Pacman fruit machine. I changed the board a while ago as the old one got corroded and took the battery off the new board to stop any leakage issues. It seemed all fine at the time of changing the board, the only thing i didn't test was putting coins through the mech. I started it up yesterday, all boots up fine and plays in free play mode. I tried putting some pound coins through and nothing. I've spent hours testing out different things but It just will not accept coins! I have taken the scorpion 4 board from my fully working DOND machine and tried it in Pacman, but it acts exactly the same all working except it still won't accept coins, so it surely can't be a faulty board? I've even swopped over the mech cable which make no difference. The Pacman mech works fine in DOND so it can't be the mech. All 4 green lights are on the board so voltages are there. The one last thing i did was test voltages going in to the mech. Voltages are there except one 12v, when I compare the same cable to DOND it is present. So I am wondering if this missing 12v on one of the pins is the problem? Or if anyone has other suggestions I could try? I have attached a photo of the connector, pointing to the blue and brown cable missing 12v with a small screwdriver.

JPM Each Way Nudger PSU Problem

02 April 2014 - 01:28 AM

I've got a couple of JPM yellow label MPS PSU's. I'm trying to fix at least one, so i can get my old Each Way Nudger going again.

I am in the process of replacing all the Rifa's on C1 - 4. The Rifa i tried to replace on C4 is slightly bigger than the old one. I tried it anyway but it immediately blew the 2 amp fuse. All the Rifa's i bought are rated in nF. The original on C4 was 0.033uF x2 the new one just says 33n Y2. I'm not an expert at electronics, i just learn bits and pieces as i go along. Have i simply bought the wrong Rifa? Do all 4 Rifa's need to be present on the PCB when testing? Only i tried a couple on there first but it keeps tripping the circuit breaker. When all Rifa's were removed and i tested it, the circuit breaker was fine and was on for at least 5 minutes with no problems. Is there any other component that's known for causing a problems with this PSU? I would be so grateful if someone could help solve this.

Thanks :)

Barcrest Crazy Reels paying out too much, urgent advise needed!

19 March 2014 - 09:35 PM

I changed the MPU4 board on a Barcrest Crazy Reels fruit machine, as the old board had developed problems due to a battery leak/corrosion.

The board in there now looks in good condition, so i've taken the battery off to prevent any possible leakage.

The machine generally seems to function fine, but when it comes to payout a win of say 40p or 80p, it pays out all the coins in the 10p hopper! The pound coin hopper seems to work and pays out correctly. It's just the 10p hopper that's baffling me. A little thing i noticed, the board in there now has a MPU4 Mod 4 sticker on it. However, the plastic around the dip switches is black, normally it's red on Mod4 and black on Mod 2's right?...

Could someone please advise me? I'd really appreciate it if i could get this sorted.

Do i need a licence to sell an old electromechanical machine?

06 March 2014 - 07:27 PM

I am trying to sell an old 1960s or 1970s electromechanical fruit machine called "Duet"

When listing it on eBay they keep removing it saying i need a licence.

My listing stated that the machine doesn't work and only took old money, so no financial gain can be made etc.

eBay states this exception:

1. Gaming machines, regardless of age, that cannot be used to acquire an opportunity to win a prize (i.e. money, article, right or service).

Surely my machine comes under this exception. As a non functioning machine cannot payout money. Even if it did work it wouldn't payout legal tender as it only takes pre-decimal coins.

Can someone please suggest the best place to sell old collectable items like this?

Many Thanks  :)
