I went into Powerhouse today to look at what they had to offer. I was really after just a 28" flat widescreen for around £300 to tide me over, but I was accosted by a 17 year old lad who went on to assure me that a 42" Panasonic plasma display, with a free stand and recordable DVD player was the way forward at £1799 for the whole package. Tell you what, I'll throw in a £25 scart lead too, and if you decide to have it delivered, we'll give you that for free as well, sir.
I wasn't too keen though, as I don't really want to spend nearly 2K on a telly with a DVD player that I don't need, so close to Xmas, plus I need new tyres on my car soon, plus money for other stuff, so I declined. It was then that they pointed out that I could have it all on 12 months interest free credit and that it really was a good package, with 100 trillion colours and a ratio of 10 to 1 at Chepstow in the 3:30, plus loads of other meaningless info that went straight over my head. He could also do me a deal on the standard 5 year warranty for £350 down from £420, which was 'really good sir' as only last week it was £600. Suddenly the Manager appeared and said he could do it for only £299, giving a grand total of about £2100. If I can just get your details, then we can put the order through and have it delivered for you on Friday...what time is most convenient?

I then left the building, went into Currys next door, but they didn't have much. Anyone got any ideas on what I should buy?
