I really can't remember who or when it was as it was so long ago.

I'd made comment's on here where I said who it was and it's logged in a comment somewhere within the forums.

My task (and it will be!!) is to find my post and let you know.

As-it-is you could say 'Micky Mouse', it's so long ago I really can't recall the name.

They did some class games in their time, Adders and Ladders (The one that laughs when you get invincible) Carousel (with the disc reel  where you got the super feature if you got 3 ferris wheels withing the main feature) and a darts themed one I can't remember the name of lo-tech where you got triple shots and bullseyes. None of these have been emulated as far as I know, would love to see them.

Carousel is one of the ones that got the scene in trouble.

I remember Empire even hosting ROMs for their early machines on their site. In fact it wouldn't surprise me if Empire even used MFME to develop their early games on, I know of 2 other manu's who were.

We had such an opportunity to built a good relationship with a manufacturer, and blew it entirely. There are some resources (ROMs + Artwork) that we may never get unless we can get 'insider' help. It's so important not to piss the manufacturers off. We are already so lucky that they turn a blind eye to us for the most part. The Nintendo guys would love the relative freedom we have, Nintendo hate emulation with a vengeance and have gone to ludicrous efforts to prevent it.

We need to try and build good relationships with all the manufacturers as it benefits us both.

Maybe i was a little harsh with my first post in this thread, been playing ghost train last night in the emu and it's a fun little game. You tend to forget about this era of machines, quite playable if you don't go all out for jp all the time,

My favourites were Korma Chameleon and Tomb Raiders. They did one called Reel or No Reel that was quite playable on 5p 10p play but not the 20p. These were all good games for having a decent long play for mostly small losses little gains but with the chance of a big win or quick cluster of decent feature wins. I will miss Empire machines a lot. Big Cheese was another popular good machine though I never really got the hang of that one. Fish Called Wonga was ok.  So sad to hear of the companies demise.

Wholly owned subsidiary of Novomatic I believe.

Novomatic seem to be monopolizing the entire gaming industry!

I did think governments were trying to prevent oligopoly's and not promote or encourage them.

Next they will be moving into the media market-watch out Sky!!! :err:

You horrible man -lol! :nah:

Know what you mean mate, there are some crap Empire games, but also some classics as you mention above.

I expect it will become difficult to get parts for empire slots now, similar to how Astra turned it's back on the likes of Party Time and Bullion Bars.

Yet Party Time games is still ever popular in most arcades country wide,so I never understand why a company u-turns on a more than popular brand.??

Thanks for the article Fruit Snappa.  Great to know that Empire is still open for business though in a much streamlined fashion by the sounds of things. I guess it would have been hard for Craig Beer to stay as having been there from when the two of them set up Empire they remember how it was and where it was going. Very difficult when the big new buyer starts wanting this that and tother doing and as a founder you know what you want to do.. When it was founded they really did hit a gap in the market. Providing decent machines at good prices to the seaside arcade sector. The last machine they did at MDM Colossus was a fantastic machine. Great for the player/great for the arcade and in an arcade near me still gets played constantly. I think Haunted House was the one that really launched Empire. Everybody knows it when they see it.
