I have been reading this thread with interest and unfortunately I can see this all ending badly for either you, the machine, or both!

Sorry if this sounds harsh but why do you always give as little info as possible and zero pics, but expect the highest level of help?

A piss easy problem to sort, turns into a nightmare, not to mention dangerous.

Close up CLEAR pics of the board (especially battery area) and inside the PSU, would have told most people everything they needed to know and your problem could possibly have been sorted for little or no, unnecessary costs to yourself.

Your last post mentions a 'code' yet you don't say what the code was or what the machine said it was for, again how can you expect help if you don't give any decent info?

don,t know what the code was about just pressed start button and it went and started initialising code now says AAA00000 .

there's no battery damage on the main or the game card as that's a brand new one. The roms chips are fine now if the labels were the correct way around they would've been in correctly in the first place. maybe an idea the machine companies could implement like batteries with the + ,- . As for no images of the actual board there is on my other topic regarding the Rtc error99. The Psu issue has been addressed on page1 of this topic I'm no expert in anything especially electronics and real internal workings of fruit machines. The alarm is only when the top door is open so not a problem.

Again we'll wait and see if the Psu powerpack is the problem when it arrives, and the new set of £70roms

They already do exactly that - the little semi-circle slot in the end of each ROM corresponds to a similar marking in the chip socket. As someone pointed out earlier.

No one takes any notice of the labels, because they could easily have fallen off and been stuck back on.

Manufacturers already show you which way round most chips should go, hence the cutout at one end.

As for no images of the actual board there is on my other topic regarding the Rtc error99.

So people are expected to trawl your other posts to try and get the stuff they need to be able to help you?  All problems with one machine, should ALL be in one post, that way it's much easier to keep track of what's going on and makes being able to help so much less difficult.

There isn't even a link to it in this post.

The Psu issue has been addressed on page1 of this topic

Has it?  I thought you were still waiting for the replacement PSU to see if it made any difference? At least that's what you say in the last line of this post.

I'm no expert in anything especially electronics and real internal workings of fruit machines.

This is self evident    ;)

The alarm is only when the top door is open so not a problem.

Oh right, the 'Grrrrrr' that you wrote, makes it look like it was a problem for you  :goofy:

Again we'll wait and see if the Psu powerpack is the problem when it arrives, and the new set of £70roms

This is the comment I referred to higher up, when you said the problem had been addressed.

If when it arrives it cures the problem, my guess is, that simply reflowing the solder on the joints where the power plug, plugs in would have cured it, this happens so many times on so many machines, it's quite a well know and common problem nowadays.  I'd have taken fruitmans advise first before spending money on it.  If the PSU is already knackered, then what did you have to lose?

I couldn't  AGREE more with all  chasnbons replies above  and the pic aaa posted about the ROMs and advice about the labels is spot on, there is many reasons that the sticker wouldn't be on correctly and can even be blank!.

With this sort of fault there is countless reasons that it could be and the more info you provided the better quality of help you would have been given, this sort of fault is far easier to deal with if you got the machine physically in front of you to test for things like dry joints and loose connections etc, but what would I know I'm only a fruit machine engineer of 25+ years, although I don't claim to know everything.

Like all remote fault finding I just went for the most likely culprit. ( the PSU or related to it )

Isnt the top door open alarm to do with the 2nd white door switch that the locking latch falls on to. If the latch allows the switch to come back up it will alarm, I just tape mine down. It should be where the locking latch falls when locked.

Well the Psu arrived today a stadium one so plugged it in and so far its running as it should put around £60 of plays through it @upto 50p plays and no re-starting throughout the whole of the time played. so the old one must of been on the way out. Awaiting the fresh set(s) of roms from mr reflex but set on £35jp. next minor issue the top reel band no3 how do you re stick the bands?? its notfallen off but someone previously reattached the band but attached it looser than it should be. What is the best sticky stuff to use to re apply the band??

Thanks to ALL advice given so far.

 regards Vectra666
