Hi all, this is my first post and hoping to get some advice.

I've just got myself a new machine ( club Italian Job )
It's all working fine but I wanted to move the battery from the main board as my last machine suffered from a leaking battery and destroyed the board.

Is it just a case of de-soldering the old battery off the board and attaching a new one with fly leads to it ?
What will happen when I switch the machine back on ? Will there be any errors that show up and do I need to reset anything like the note acceptor,  if so how?

Any advice would be most welcome as I don't want to potentially break the machine as it all works as it should.
Many thanks.

Some info here: http://www.fruit-emu...eaking-battery/

The new battery will need to charge up. The machine will play differently from a memory reset, until it gets back up to percentage.

Any errors should be temporary.

Thanks for the fast reply.

Would I need to do anything to reset the machine or does taking the battery off do this automatically ?

I would snip the battery off using a pair of side cutters or something, then you will have some pins to solder your wires to easier.

Taking the battery off will clear the memory.

Sounds like a good idea leaving the pins.

Would you happen to know if the note acceptor will be affected by a memory reset or am I worrying over nothing ?

obviously the machine would be turned off when you do this.. so generally it should be ok ifnyou resolder it back on within a few minutes. ive never had a problem.

I'll give it a go over the weekend.

"If it isn't broke don't fix it" comes to mind but after my old machine had the battery leaking problem

I would like to prevent it from happening on this one.

Well I plucked up the courage and removed the battery today, put on some wires and connected it all back up.

When I switched it back on It gave a ram error which went off straight away. I then had to dump the hopper and refill it as it was showing as empty.

Once this was done I had to adjust the volume as this had also reset.

I then switched the machine off, left it for a while and when I switched it back on it's holding the memory fine.

Looks like it was a success and the note acceptor still works.

Thank you for all the advice.
