Reds are MPU5 but make use of the security chip to its fullest extent. Maygays are indeed Epoch.

I guess they're both a no go then at the moment?

I'm not THAT fussed, as long as something is playable. I see you're doing IMPACT already which covers things like Casino Crazy and Rollercoaster doesn't it?

I'm happy with that.

If you need a Linux VPS for testing a server on or anything like that, I might be able to provide a test one free of charge for a while.

For the majority id be saying Epoch, its like the other 50% of fruit machines? If we can already emulate scorp 4 and mpu5 can we embedd them into a new emulator or edit MFME itself to run CCTalk Hoppers/Serial Hoppers and crack the red gaming security? THAT for me would be a huuuuuge step, improving on what we have. Little things like Sound tempos, especially on BFM Machines!

Well Epoch depends on KillCrazy. If he doesn't appear before July 1st, then Epoch will definitely be included in Amber. If he does reappear then it is up to him. I don't want to take away from his emulator. Maybe he wont mind as mine is 3D whereas his (afaik) is 2D.

Red Gaming is a possibility, but it depends on how hard the security is to get past. Until I try I don't know how hard it will be. Its a bit like Barcrest vs BWB with the characteriser on MPU4. Barcrest used it in a way that wasn't all that hard to get past, whereas BWB used the CHR to maximise the security.

The CHR chips used on MPU4 were GAL chips, which meant they had a limited ability to do very much in the way of security.

MPU5 uses a PIC chip, which is basically a self contained computer system, which means they could have some evil security on it. Personally I don't like Red gaming machines, so they aren't high on my priority list, but the plan is to get to everything eventually, once I get the mass of techs in, there will be plenty of things to keep me occupied. It all depends on available roms and resources. Some stuff is quite a big project to get running, sometimes I like to do a few smaller jobs just to feel like I've done something. When i get MPU5 up and running I'll take a look and see what the job entails.

IMPACT is indeed the correct tech for Casino Crazy and Roller Coaster, coincidentally my 2 favorite games. I own the real machines so some super hi res layouts for those machines will be coming up at some point.

Sound will be 100% in amber, I can only assume that the Scorp4/MPU5 release we have was incomplete regarding the sound. I've done an emulation of the YMZ280B in the original amber which had the correct settings for pitch altering. Its a really straight forward chip, so I assume it just wasn't finished in MFME.

Ah I understand, after playing a lot of BFM Machines it bugs me in MFME when the pitch doesnt alter, it takes a lot of the gameplay away for me, least its easy to sort. th YMZ chip im guessing is a Yamaha Chip which if I remeber the Scorp4 Amplifier was based on that? I know Epoch uses an 8 channel Yamaha amplifier which probably only 2 were ever used, maybe 3?

Scorp4 and Epoch use the same YMZ280B chip. It is 8 channel, all 8 channels were probably used, but not at the same time.

Some people were unspecific and just said Bellfruit, or just said Electrocoin rather than the specific tech. But here's the standings so far.

Ecoin                 10 (8 Hi tech/2 Lo Tech)
Epoch                  8
Scorp 4                7
Sru                    3
MPU4 Video (BWB)       3
MPU5 (RED)             2
Astra (Party Time)     2
Castle                 2
MPU2                   1
Sys80                  1
MPU6                   1
Proconn (Project)      1
Maygay MMM             1
Scorp 5                1

Wasnt there one or two Machines QPS made that used Pluto 5Tech from Astra? I remeber Cash Cow and Yabba Dabba Darts ran on Pluto 5? I would be going with the most machines left on an un emulated tech. How many Electrocoin High tech machines were made?

What specific 'stealth' machines were released.  Is it worth emulating?  Was there that many machines released on this tech or was this tech an upgrade or alternative that ran a more familiar tech.

Stealth was a Global Games tech, there were a few machines released on it, it basically filled the gap between Global using Scorpion 2 and Epoch. Not many machines iirc.

SRU, and Astra for me.  Would be great to see Epoch as well at some point.  SRU for JPM's classic nudgers (Eachway Nudger/Shuffle, LIte A Nudge and Double Up Deluxe). And Astra for Riverboat Gambler, and Double Cash.  Didn't really play many Epoch machines.  Flashback, and Simpsons Beer Guide are the only ones I remember playing.

Any new techs would be welcome though.  It's like Pokemon.  Got to emulate them all! :)

Ahhh, Riverboat Gambler, what a great machine by Astra.  I really enjoyed Astra Ring a Bell.   Actually quite a lot of decent Astras from the mid to late 90's.
