Been a few weeks since I added anything to the 'New Downloads' section and must admit, I keep bodging up when uploading (sorry guys lol).

Anyways. Here's Special Reserve. It's one of, if not the best JPM MPS machine of this era. 3 main features to aim for. NUDGE, CASH POT and 50p SPECIAL. Already we are bettering the slightly older games of LootSHOOT and HotPOT. Add to that, this machine has 2 alternating Melon Meters, Super Hold AND a NUDGE NOW feature.

Still, you'll get your arse kicked if this machine has already paid out. Luckily for you lovely viewers, the layout is fully loaded with full pots and apart from an average amount in the Melon Meters, it's pretty much ready to drop.

Heres the pic and the zip for you to download and see what I mean. This is a gem. come on.... Tell me I'm a liar!

Cheers for this CC, really annoys me when machines like this prove just how shocking bad modern machines can be

Well laid out classic - although I don't suppose you know if there is any artwork - or a DX layout for this being worked on?

I am pretty sure that a DX will be forthcoming. I'm positive that Quattrohead has glass scans for this very machine and with the same JP as this layout as you may already know, theres a £4 version QH has been working on.

I'm looking forward to that as it should be an excellent release.

As for comparing this against modern machines. Yes, these machines of the past did something that todays machines don't do. And that is to provide amusement with the added bonus of a prise every now and then. The term AWP was never more fitting. Todays machines can still play a relatively average game if you set your sights on a more respectible limit of return like aiming for £3 or £4. thing is, they are geared to generate profit at all costs so it's not really much fun when it costs £5 for a feature entry that will win you £4. They definately had it spot on in the 80's.

When I play SpecialRESERVE, I look at it and wonder about its simplicity. I look and can't believe that theres so much on offer and it all seems so easy to achieve. Surely these machines back in the 80's made their owners/operators profit too. If machines like SR were still mainline today, playing an enjoyable game and offering even the casual player a shot at the JP without knowing any special tricks, I'm sure the industry would not only be a much healthier one but also the player would be far less suspicious about the goings on in arcades and thus the numbers of players would still be high and respectable. Instead, the industry has moved from providing enjoyment for the player to providing as much profit as possible for the owner/operator.

If the industry was to turn back the clock and revert back to 80's ethics, it would take a full generation of potential players to pass by for the industry to reap the benefits. It is possible of course but time is something the industry doesn't have so it will never happen.

Nice release Compost, a true classic! As for messing downloads up, just stay clear of special characters and you will be fine (like[,],(,) etc.)
