It's difficult to see from the picture.

There isn't normally a switch on the locking bar... Is there any way that it could be actuated when the cabinet is secured?

Well having a look online... looks like it might be the hopper that is knackered.

Can't be bothered to pay for a replacement, so i s'pose it will just be free play for now!

If it just needs a compact hopper disk it won't be very expensive.

Am i right in thinking that once my refill key comes I should be able to use the hopper dump switch and see if it is working at all?

Ok so the stake/prizes key has come, along with the refill key.

Machine is saying the stake/prize key is invalid... the hopper dump button is still not doing anything - seem to be making no progress what so ever.

HELP!?

I wouldn't recommend a 92250 as just about everyone has access to the key for them... For the sake of a few pence it would be better to get these:

Sorry, I thought the machine was for private use? Though they're handy if you have a lot of machines and want to use just the one key for all of them.

The switch from a few photos above looks to me like the secondary test button that was added to later Genesis cabinet machines? Instead of just pressing the single 'test' button on the mainboard, you would need to press the secondary test button at the same time to enter test mode.

Could be wrong but that would be my assumption.

If it is saying 'stake / prize key is invalid' then the first assumption would be that you've got an incorrect key fitted, OR a variable key with the switches in the incorrect order.

Pretty sure a Cliffhanger (as with most machines this age) will only allow the following :

£5 Jackpot @ 10p, and possibly also 20p / 30p play, or

£25 Jackpot @ 25p / 30p play

If you buy a fixed key with any other setting it may well not work - certainly not £35 or £70 jackpot as these machines were never upgraded to allow the higher jackpots.

As for the 'hopper opto blocked' error - it's hard to see without having the machine in person. Assuming there is definitely nothing stuck, and it sounds like there isn't as you've had the machine out, one possible issue could be with the power supply. Bit of a random thing to suggest I know but I've had PSU failures / fuses causing all sorts of random issues.

Would be worth checking that the plug on the MPU5 board for hopper (will probably be labelled 'PAYOUTS' or something, it's been ages since I've worked on MPU5!) is seated correctly for a start. If you can get into test mode (probably using the two buttons as I mentioned at the start of the post) then the second test will test the hopper by attemping to pay out a single £1 coin. Might be worth trying that in test mode to see if the hopper turns at all.
