Evening folks,

After many years of not having the room, I have finally purchased a fruit machine! Vivid Cliffhanger for £30 - bargain...

Worked out how to change the payout percentage, know that I need a key to change the stake and jackpot (currently it is on free play - the port has a blank on it) however I don't have a key to access the cashbox at the bottom.

The lock to open her up (up the top) is unlocked so that isn't a problem, but I can't unlock the bottom half of the machine to access the cash thus I can't really put her onto cash play yet.

Any ideas where I can obtain a key?

Many thanks,

Darren

Hi Darren, keys are usually random and not specific to an individual machine.

Is it a flat lock aperture slot or is it circular?

Circular - sort of like a O with a notch, making it like a Q.

I feared this could be the problem - looks like drilling through it is the only option then

Yep afraid so, unless you know someone with the correct pick.
Where are you?

Isle of Wight mate... too far from anyone ;) Drilling will probs be easier - straight through the middle, rip it out and put a new one in there.

Many thanks!

If your in need of cheap locks, then visit this link: http://www.ebay.co.u...=item231207d017

That one should do fine for a fruity. Drilling the lock does seem like the only solution unless you can contact the person your bought the machine from. Plus, having a set of 2 keys is safer.

I wouldn't recommend a 92250 as just about everyone has access to the key for them... For the sake of a few pence it would be better to get these:

Ok so I have managed to drill through the lock - but am struggling to work out how to get it off of free play?

Any ideas folks?

Evening folks,

Just got my first fruit machine after about 8 years of not having the space, but can't work out how to get it off of free play.

Unfortunately didn't have the lock to the cashbox so drilled through that and all seems present and correct. The machine still plays with the bottom door off though, and will even play with the top half open (although I think i can see what they have done with the top half).

Anyone know how to resolve my issue? Vivid Cliffhanger (2001/2002).

Doesn't the machine have a white button that the coin door pushes against. If so then you simply need to press that button in constantly or twist the wires together. That will put it on pay to play mode.

Yes it does - when the bottom door is closed, the switch is engaged but still plays in free mode?

Just got my head underneath there... I am guessing that these two wires need to be connected to the switch - photo attached... don't wanna do it until someone confirms.

Check that the door switch hasn't been unscrewed and swiveled out the way.

Operate it by hand and the machine should reset into payout mode.

If not, you probably have an issue with the door switch connections.

Not necessarily - some unconnected wires are just there to be used if a security alarm is fitted.

So I turn the machine on and it runs with the cabinet open and the bottomd oor open... all I have to do is hit start and it puts 12.50 credit on.

If I press the bottom door switch, it restarts the machine but remains in free play. Pops up with the jackpot amount, the stake amount and then says DOOR 75.00.

So the switch is working, as it restarts the machine...

Any ideas? Any help much appreciated

Had a play around... now when I press both the cabinet switch and the bottom door switch, I get the alarm 17-83. I therefore assume it is trying to boot into normal cash play but the error is getting in the way.

Blocked hopper? Had a look can't see anything obvious - can't seem to get the thing apart though - can take the metal plate off by can't remove the plastic sorting tray as the tubes are in the way and i can't get them off.

Any ideas folks? I see someone else had a problem with this machine back in 2008 but a solution was never posted.

Alarm 17-83 PND OPTO blocked - when both switches in.

I'm guessing it needs a new hopper then? Press the hopper dump button, nothing happens :/ Have taken it apart, given it a clean including the yellow wheel and the little red bits - quite greasy, no jammed coins etc

So cleaning the Hopper hasn't worked... just wondering what this switch is for?

It seems that when the cabinet is locked, it may activate - the lock doesn't work on this but when I manually activate the switch it doesn't appear to do anything.

Could this be related to the problem?
