Hi,

Is somebody able to send me a service manual for this particular game please, or a link to it..?

Many thanks,

Ant.

Right, as like your other thread, bit hard to get the actual manual for this machine, so best we can do here, is get a manual for a similar machine, as it will detail the hardware as it is.

As it happens, there is one for Cracker, which is a similar machine, and should detail enough info you need on the hardware side, to assist you with what you need.

Link here for this tech guide, and a few other assorted bits concerning the Impact platform.

You don't need instructions on how to service it really. Just change the bulbs that are blown and deal with the battery.

The biggest concern with Impact is the battery on the processor card. If it leaks, it will destroy the CPU card (assuming it's Impact 1?)

So the first thing to do is remove the battery and fly-lead it. If it's Impact 3, do the same thing except you wont have a processor card. The battery is in the middle (ish) of the Impact 3 board. The batteries are different depending on which Impact system you have.

It will alarm with no battery fitted, but this alarm will time out. It may even alarm the first time with a new battery fitted until it's been played.

And that's about it really. Impact is quite a reliable tech as long as you look after the CPU card and keep it away from the cold and damp (so no unheated out-buildings)

Just to add to what Paul has said, pretty much any machine you have, will have a memory battery of some description, and is always best practice to wire them off the board, so if you ever get a leak, it will not kill any boards to which they are attached to.

Impact is especially an issue, as it's very diffiult to repair any leaks on those, and quite often, another card has to be sourced, and certanaly with the v1, the processor card is hard to replace, or quite expensive.

Link here with pics, concerning my old JPM Give Us A Break Club machine, running on Impact v1 (Images marked as GUAB), which shows you the various bits.

This is the v1 processor card with battery in situ (Assuming you are on v1,your card may have two empty sockets on it, but will have a battery located in the bottom-right corner) as mentioned earlier you particularly need to watch out for.

Thank you all for your advice - I will change the batteries on all 3 machines I have as a precaution.
