Don't forget Fruitsnappa and Captain Haddock in the list, also Brucegeorge. Yes BB06 it is looking a bit grim. The problem is with forums and the internet, people want everything done 'right now', not remembering that the creators have a job and family to sort as well. Having said that FME has slowed down and thanks to Guitar and Killcrazy, the interest in FME will hopefully be revived. We will just have to be patient in the mean time.

Also admit missing Amber Online, but what will be , will be. :)

There,s also ht6, ploggy, DAD johnny afc to name but a few, thing is the resources and the want to do layouts as wained a little infact a lot by some.

Although I produce a fair few dx's for the lappy market I wouldn't class myself as a pro just yet far from it, hopefully Amber when completed and the eppe'emu will re-ignite the flames of Fme for how long is anybodies guess, as ricardo said everyone whats everything now if its out Monday they want it sunday, its the society we live in fast paced.

Has any layout creators got anything in the pipeline for Mfme or Amber

Personally I find FME very boring now.

Apart from the emulation side of things there used to be a fantastic atmosphere too...we'd come on-line have a laugh and a joke---it was something that was actually enjoyable to do.

Although I can/could still make layouts I am just fed-up of the constant abuse I receive and so use my social time for nicer things.

I think what the emulator creators are doing deserves a gigantic thumbs-up, but sadly, I think with the demise of resources that's sure to happen again it'll just go full circle.

Can't remember the last time I booted a layout up to play...all I've downloaded for is to allow me to take a SS to add to a release thread.

HI although I dont post alot on here, im shocked when you said you get abuse, dont know why anyone would, I think this site is amazing and so are the creators. You,ve allow me to play machine i never thought i could ever play again, and some ive never played or would have played in the wild lol. I would like to thank you all, and you,ve saved me mony as i rarely play them for real anymore-no fun and too expensive. Though i just live for the day when the SRU`s can be emulated, would be on par with the MPU2/3s.

There is a lot wrong with this site and with FME in general at the moment.

I think the site suffers from a lack of effort from the top to encourage people to visit and post to the site and posts are what keeps a forum alive.  Recognition there is a problem would be a start. For instance we have a moderation and admin team list which is fairly stuffed full with the great and good from FME.  However there is a lack of showing from this team in the forum at large.

Is it so difficult to try and garner interest in this hobby that has brought us all together here?  Whether it is creating interesting threads that people can join in with, quiz type threads, maybe the creation of an FME database, with details of every machine from every maker, variants, ROM revisions, rebuilds, layouts made, layout snapshots, machine snapshots, details of why machines don't run or behave awkwardly act mute in certain emulators - that would be a huge and useful project.  A couple of years ago I recall we had a casino here and every post bought you some credit to use in there.  OK maybe it generated some pish postings but at least we had some posts.  We used to have a front page shoutbox and at least it showed some activity.  The chat room is not the same and I would love to have the shout box back.

What about investing some time bringing the arcade up to scratch.   Without looking, guess when the last high score was posted there? Try 3 months ago.  What about before that - a full 8 months ago.  Now it strikes me people either don't know the arcade exists or they know it and they think the games are shite, or the high scores are just out of everyones reach.  Well you can debunk the latter as looking at the 3 latest scores posted one of them is before Christmas.  In this day of Apps and mobile gaming is it impossible to get people playing arcade games on here on the forum?

As for FME I think many of us believed AMBER would be our saviour, but that just hasn't happened.  I am sure it is truly wonderful, but I cannot get the bloody thing to work, online or offline.  I am not sure why AMBER hasn't taken off the way we thought it should - maybe it is because they aren't "new" layouts, but would be remakes of existing ones from Amber that has caused people not to bother.  Maybe FME has lost critical mass as was forecast as 10.1 was leaked.  Maybe FME needs real characters of old like Alex, Harvey, Geddy, Pandy, Retrofruit etc to make it tick and now they are gone maybe it is the end.  Maybe it is a case that the old techs don't appeal anymore.  I am with Topshaun, I would love SRU to become available, but for the sake of FME maybe the only saviour now would be fully working Scorp 4 / 5 and hundreds of DOND DX's.

I know I backed the FME in MAME when that was first mooted and have been on that bandwagon since.  It makes sense to have FME linked to an emulator which has multiple coders and a structure and releases and an ability to react to new operating systems a testing team and a future.  However, havIng made the initial steps of sorting out the ROMs and retrofitting Wizzy's Scorp 4 code back into MAME it has died a death.  Then we lost Geddy and now we don't have our dedicated ROM and layout list.  It sucks, it really does.  Will Haze ever get back to developing FME in MAME; well I hope so and I hope it is in my lifetime.  Maybe TGA will succeed in his layour with MAME, who knows.  We do seem to have reached a crossroads and a triple witching hour.  Loss of members, lack of new resources and lack of emulation of modern technologies are all contributing to the feeling of malaise.  To be honest I am not even sure if Wizzy decided to release MFME 4 tomorrow whether that would actually help the situation.  Perhaps he'll read this and give it a try.......

Anyway I do get the message that was hidden in the creation of this thread and in some respects I am glad it was started.  Putting my thoughts to paper as it were, has helped.

Ady, I am sorry to hear you have suffered aggravation.  Rule 1 "we will not tolerate rudeness, insulting posts, personal attacks or purposeless inflammatory posts" may help.  Personal attacks are never good on any forum from anyone.

im not bored by the FME thing, i still boot up the likes of andy cap, razzle dazzle and lineup for a bit of nostalgia, and amber has also given me a new lease of life.

What i really want are some fresher layouts, yes i would love to play the original 4 reeler deal or no deal, yes i would love to play partytime, flashback, simpsons and so on.

I dont think the scene is dead, key people are still here. Its more like its on a massive hold until new techs are available to DX. i cant wait personally, especially from the killcrazy/guitar coalition camp  :)

Fme needs new blood in the case of layout creators to eventually "take over" the older ones when they leave or retire for the scene, it's no good harking on about past creators eventally the time will come they're be No creators left, yes the layouts I play from 2003 upwards most are of excellent quality again something i'm a million miles away from at certain times I almost threw the towel in but no I continued to do something I love regardless. But just like any good business you need apprentice's to one day "take over the reins" and make the company survive and continue in strength, yes they'll probably make mistakes but we've all got to learn from somewhere.

And as BJ states can we bring back the Shoutbox as when Amber is up and running online there's a great atmosphere when fellow gamblers can chat and 'have a laugh'   just like this site used to be pre sept'13  maybe when Amber and the Eeppe emu joins forces Fme will be alive with the sound of fruities once again.

New layout creators are only  Andy-1, Samson81 afaik.

i hate fruit-emu without the shout box, it was in a prominent position right at the top, and like the title suggests you can shout your mouth off.

not sure if the comment about amber is right, amber was a learning curve for guitar, let us hope he will now code with killcrazy as 2 heads are better than one.

as for wizard, ive never bad mouthed him nor will i. Why has he not released mfme x.x ? i dont know, but im sure he has his reasons.  One day......

I miss the old days!!! Could literally hang around all the FME forums and IRC all night sometimes. There always seemed to be something interesting going on, whether it be a good or bad thing haha.
