Probably could of got a better subject title!

Basically i'm having a bash at a classic layout of Ace of clubs (by crystal/impact tech) to work in mfme2, and have got near enough everything sorted with regard to lamp numbers and reel positions etc... but when i come to try and run the game, i get a "rom entry missing" message in the game manager window.

I unzipped the whole contents of the jpemu version of ace of clubs into a new folder within my mfme machines along with saving my layout into the same folder, hoping it would work, but it doesnt, does anyone have any advice?

Cheers

Have you tried loading the ROMs thought the design mode?

You could create the new layout and add the Reels and stuff make sure all settings are correct.

when you save the layout make sure that there is no gap in the file name. Like aceofclubsclassic and not ace of clubs classic otherwise you will get an error message saying the layout cannot be found.

Hope that kinda helps.

tried that also yeh, but nothing moves or works :( i loaded the 2 ace of clubs rom files first, then the layout im creating, also i tried it vice versa just to see if it had any difference, but no! i still get the rom entry missing message.

I pinched all the lamp numbers and stuff from the jpemu classic layout if that helps anyone else racking their bains over the problem

Basically, so far i have

Reels : Reel layout done, hi lo reel done
Lamps : so far just the top line ACE OF CLUBS which when lit gives extra life.
Also, i have a lamp matrix which im using to create everything with.
I stopped working on the layout when nothing happened when loading roms

I have loaded the 2 roms files, and the sound file, saved the layout, saved game (so it appears in the game manager). I have the game speed set at 200000. When you go into game manager, it still says ROM ENTRY MISSING and also, when pressing reset in config window, nothing happens

nah, absolutely nothing happens at all :(

The layout loads, but thats it. reels dont move, lamps dont light.. nothing!

Ive tried it with other roms too, ie, loaded jpemu roms into mfme2 and setting up a lamp matrix to see if i get any activity, and waited.... again all to no avail

I'm having exactly the same problems with JPMs MegaBucks (In MFMEv2)

I've tried to load roms through design mode... No lamps, nor reels moving however when I try to load roms (Just incase they never loaded) I get an message saying can't load roms as there is a game loaded

Tried to save the .dat file in same folder as the roms so that I could locate it starting up MFMEv2 but there isn't a .gam file so wouldn't load it that way.

:-( :-( :-(

I had this problem with the layout I am working on at the moment, I ended up using an old .gam file which I modified to point at the right files :)

Heres what it should contain [not guarenteed to work but should be enough to get the layout going!]

It should look like the quoted section below, although the ROM files and Layout will obviously have their correct names :)

System IMPACT
DIP 1 00000000
Delay 50000
Stake 4
Jackpot 5
Percentage 6
SetPercent 0
TotalIn 0
TotalOut 0
Played 5
Layout LAYOUT FILE NAME.dat
Sound SOUND ROM NAME.bin
ROM PROGRAM ROM 1 NAME.p1
ROM PROGRAM ROM 2 NAME.p2

Not sure if all games have a p2 file so you can delete the bottom line if you don't have 2 program ROMs for the machine :)

Make sure you haven't got any gaps or spaces in the name of the layout you're creating.

For example. If you're creating a layout, make sure it's named 'aceofclubsclassic.dat' and not 'ace of clubs classic.dat'

The emulator will not recognise the file otherwise.

Another reason the rom entry may not be working is because you haven't put '.bin' after the name of the rom in the '.gam' file.

Have a check and report back.

right, i loaded the 2 rom files first, then i loaded my layout and saved my game (to create a .gam file). went to game manager still rom entry missing, so i opened up the gam file and a lot of the stuff that bencrest stated should be in a gam file was missing. all that was present was

System unknown
Dip 1 00000000
Dip 2 00000000
SetPercent 0
Total In 0
Total Out 0
Layout aceofclubs.dat

(there may have been 1 more line im not sure)
so i edited it to create this (basing it on what bencrest wrote)

System IMPACT
DIP 1 00000000
Delay 120000
Stake 4
Jackpot 5
Percentage 6
SetPercent 0
TotalIn 0
TotalOut 0
Played 5
Layout aceofclubs.dat
Sound aceofclubssnd.bin
Rom aocd1.p1
Rom aocd2.p2

so i saved that and tried again, Still getting the rom entry missing :(

All I could think of is that the last 2 lines in there should read ROM not Rom, but thats all I could recommend....if that can't fix it I'm sure someone else will have more ideas :o

Edit, disregard the bit between the lines, problem sorted while I was typing it :)

[hr:bfd5a60949]

It could be case sensitive for the ROM name, so make sure that in the .gam file it is EXACTLY the same filename as the ROM file - i.e Abcd.p1 might be classed as different to abcd1.p1 :)

Make sure that the ROMs and the Layout are in the same folder as well :)

[hr:bfd5a60949]

Well, I don't know how that worked, unless your ROMs were called xxxxx.bin?

Anyway, glad it is sorted :)

No pic here lol :)

I don't get this .bin stuff.....although I haven't checked the ROMs for this machine. I'm guessing from the way it is now up and running that the ROMs end in a .bin extension rather than the p1, p2 format?

I should have made that clear in my previous post....sorry :(
