I think they recommend allowing 3 weeks so you should be okay

Should be fine.

Get your photos done at a chemist or something, not a photo booth is my reccommendation. I had em done at a booth and the post office told me they might send the whole thing back so I went to the chemist across the road and got it done there.

Actually thinking about it...  if it's your first passport and not a renewal I'd phone up to check...

I know it took ages for one of my friends a few years ago.  She had to go for an interview and send all sorts of documentation back and forth.  Hers might have been an extreme case though...

Officially it should take no longer than 6 weeks according to the gov website

https://www.gov.uk/a...-adult-passport

Though it should be fine I would still fast-track it, would hate for you to miss your hols!

Correct, has to go through the normal application process.

Also depends which office you sent the application to..... the Peterborough office is generally seen as the most reliable application centres, although generally they try to get you to use the Duraham office by default.

On average, provided there are no unexpected hiccups, should get it sorted in two weeks for a first passport, though they always say to allow up to 28 days..... however, you can always check with the office you sent your application to.
