Refill meter?
Which one are you talking about, is it in the bottom of the machine or somewhere on the top glass?

As chasnbons said i the refill dose not really mater for home use its more used for companys to keep a record of how much they are refilling the machine up. I.e Mr spoons pubs would keep a record what they are topping it up each day.

If you put in a pound coin with the refill key turned, the top meter should increment and the pound coin should be directed into the hopper.

i open the bottom door, then enter refill mode and insert pound coins in the slot and it counts em down in the alpha display. are you refering to the top door being open and the bottom door closed?

BOTH doors closed, with the machine started up as usual, then Insert and turn the refill key
That's why the meters and key are on the outside - because any usual attendant can then refloat the machine without needing access to the innards (and test modes), where all the money is (mmm... money!)

my machine is mpu6, dosnt use a refill key, it uses an ibutton, its located on a chain inside the bottom door. it connects to a receptor on the outside of the machine next to the payout tray.
how am i supposed to connect to refill mode with the doors closed other than break the ibutton off the chain

Thats what your ment to do fella and put it on your key ring (Brake the chain or just remove it off the chain. Lock all doors once the machine has booted up touch the ibutton reader with the ibutton) Machine will be in refill mode refloat and watch the sec meter top right next to the coin bezal will go up. Then once you have placed X number of coins touch ibutton reader with the ibutton and thats it

All machines I have ever come across do have a refill key system fitted, which is designed to let ordinary floor staff refill the machine without needing to have the keys to the rest of the machine.
The most common type, is known as a Lowe & Fletcher (L+F) 87000 and is of the flat key sort
Pic here of one with BOTH the keys and refill unit shown: http://www.ebay.co.u...=item2568faa225

ewwwwwwww, hate those dam things.
Often see em used on the tills in some Pubs, and the staff cursing them like hell when they don't work.
Do you know if it's possible to fit a standard L&F compatible refill unit in place of these fobs?
