Hiya guys (and gals)

I noticed mentioned in a post the other day I think it was from d0uga1

about getting used to the tools (may have been BarcrestBenito)

is there a special thing you need to design layouts?

I guess you can use any art package to make the actual image, however how do you go about things like the buttons etc and the reels?

I'd love to make a layout but have no idea how to do the other parts..

I've done 'some' website design and know about buttons, is this how its done?

Any advice would be helpful, or pm / email me with a link (as you don't want a flood of crap layout lol) to the tools if there are such things.

:) :)

ok the best way to get use to it is by going over a classic machine but always ask the person who done the classic. first you will need a flyer of the machine and then you use photoshop or another programe like that to tidy the picture up.you will need to do 2 pictures one dark so machine is of and one on so the machine is on.next add the pic to the classic then you will need to lamp it . so you add 1 dark and one light on the first win lets say the £1 win so now when you win the £1 will light up same with the rest of the wins and so on.if you need help just ask and we will all be willing to help u
thanks flyer

sounds easy enough lol :)

I'll probably take a classic design, play around a bit, learn how things work, then when I 'think' i know roughly what I'm doing, I'll then look into actually doing one :)

Obviously I'll ask before 'borrowing' someones stuff :D

P.S. Thanks flyer :)

regarding the lamp system i was messing about with photoshop a couple of days ago and found that if you have the darker image for lamp off open it in photoshop and the go of the area you want lamping with the dodge tool it lightens up the image good im going to use this in my next layout i release when i find a machine i can do lol.

hope this works for people.

and the message your on about was from me lol

Far easier to use lasso too then filter>render>lighting effects>omni

Give this a try its a lot cleaner, then true dodge can give some good effects.

I'd recommend using the Polygonal Lasso, it anti-aliases the edge of the lines pretty well - i.e makes 'em smooth :)

There was also a paste about using Dodge to lamp by Alth [Pretty sure it was him] with reference to a BFMulator release. I like all emulated machines, but I prefer the Omnilamp available, as Ady says, in Photoshop. I tend to use a slightly cream lamp for general lamping, something like 255,255,216 [used in Easy Money].

If you do need any help AT ALL - just post here, or even MSN one of us, I'm sure my MSN addy is in my profile :)

Hiya Scorpio....

I've been meaning to go to ya site for ages, as I keep hearing about it, then when I see a post I think I'll go there... and forget.

Then I remembered... Where exactly is your site hosted?

.tk???? as I seem to take forever to get to your site and it sometimes timesout before getting onto it.

I get the page header (in the blue bar)
Scorpios FME Website... but it never goes much further...

may be a problem with my settings or my pc.

thanks adydb, but I think it's my security settings that 'may' be the problem, managed to get there now tho :)

got a lovely idea for a layout too, (with incorrect roms unfortunately) but it may work, they managed to do it with PCB and Bangin Away...

we'll have to see

Ahh, you mean a Hybrid layout [i.e the graphics from one machine but the ROMs from another, normally a clone]? Always interesting to see Hybrids :)
