Last summer I was staying in brean and went down to weston super mare for one day only, went in just one arcade which if i remember correctly had a monopoly 4 player plasma nearish to a change desk. Anyway ended up bored with the place and went on back to brean. Where we were staying the fair and arcades were about a 5 minute walk away and the beach about 5 minutes too. Only bad point is the fair shuts at 10 but the arcades and entertainment places are open till around 11-12ish (:

Why stay in England? It's not all that much more expensive getting on a flight to Spain for a few days. And if you look hard enough, I'm sure you can do it for less than staying in the UK.
We booked flights many months ago and managed return tickets on ThompsonFly for less than £60 each. Our digs were £200 for the week and berthed 6 easy. Do that 6 ways with your mates and thats a few quid over £100 each for a week in Benidorm in Spain. I can spend that on a day trip to Scarborough or Bridlington. And have to come home the same day too.

Great Yarmouth is a great place too. Another mini Vegas with loads to do. Once were told there was a pub for every day of the year lol. The long bar was a favourite of mine. Apparently the longest bar in Europe. Was a while since I were last there but enjoyed its nightlife and arcades. Did over a grand in a long weekend once lol.

Depends what you are after. You are not far from the best beaches in the country at Bamborough. Not good for arcades etc however.

Quiet ? You better hope that buddylove doesn't win a gold pot while your there then
I live about 6 miles away from paignton and 9 away from torquay, it's an alright place and usually the fair is in both paignton and torquay over the easter hols. Just have to look out for the food robbing bastards that are seagulls
