either youve got a dodgy battery or iits been tinkerd with
leave it with the alarm going it should go off after 15 seconds then the error code will go off after 30 seconds
then it should bee fine hope this helps

alarm 48 is nothing to do with the battery m8, alarm 48 is where the machine has been swtich on/off then on again within a certain time limit
but u do have the right idea about leaving the machine on while in alarm and it will clear roughly about 20 30 secs later
if it was the battery it would come up as error alarm 53 (meaning memory reset)

also make sure both doors are closed and once the error has cleared put a coin through it or it will start up again when you open the doors.

sound like u got a coin jam kelly, either in in the mech itself or in the separator.
what ever u do do not take the separator apart (its a nightmare to put back together) coz the gates will go everywhere.
just take the mech out and bang it a few times

And while you are at it check the on board battery just in case, if there is any sign of leakage then remove it - and if it is a blue Nicad then remove it whether it is leaking or not!

i don't fully understand this aa.
if its not leaking there wouldn't be any need to remove it. if it looks ok then i wouldn't touch it m8.

You must have seen the damage that just vapour from a Nicad can do?
At least with a nimh battery you can usually see when it is leaking.

i have seen many vapour leaks ect from nicads ect. but unless the vapour is appearing under the tracks there would be no panic or alarm to remove it m8.

I don't agree, but I respect your opinion as someone who has been working on fruits for longer than I have!
I would still argue that there is a reason why they haven't fitted nicads for a few years, and it wasn't just RoHS compliance...
