Nice idea from Fruitnutter there but it needed thinking through a bit more. Cannot ever fault the enthusiasm though. A lot of members contribute nothing at all so credit for trying to offer something useful to people
I still think the FME scene needs a nice big database as a handy reference-point where people can go and look up a game and find out info on it, pictures, whether a layout has been done and who by, and what site(s) it is hosted at and what version of MFME it runs on. There could be other stuff like saved RAM files and so on added as well.
For a lot of people it's just really cumbersome now trawling through loads of sites trying to find something. I remember Ross was doing FMEdb but it ground to a halt unfortunately. We need something like this and people need to get behind it and populate it. People will still have to come here or elsewhere to download in the end anyway. No layouts or ROMs would be hosted, just information.
That is what the scene needs right now, information all in one place.
its something im still developing but with the size of the project it was never going to be done quick. who knows, might be back in the future if it gets to point where its useful.

Also, has anyone seen Ross? Not seen him about in a while, I was hoping he would finish off his Place Your Bets layout now the emulator can do what needs to be done.

Hi all so quick update, ive not been as active as i would like recently due to IRL commitments but will be continuing with the releases as soon as i can.
On the subject of the FmeDB, i have noticed that there still hasn't really been people using it (i think the peak was 7 people but looks to be around 1-2 people a day), i have built this site from scratch so if you think there is something that can be improved / implemented, please let me know and i will take a look.
Still looking for help to populate as its a very time consuming job for a couple of people to manage.
Also, The arcade (which im not sure if many people know about as its only had 3 users use it) will be getting some attention soon, i will be adding the ability to set up player made competitions and more social features (will post more when i get them developed)
And finally, just to reiterate on point 2, if you have any feedback about the current state of the site (content, features, ideas etc) Please let mew know, feedback would be most appreciated.

Just to confirm, i have decided to close this down as i was sinking too many hours into this and with the usage rate of about 2 users a day it wasn't worth keeping it going.
i am going to make another site though purely for the fun of it which will be the fmedb arcade. it will be similar to what was on the FmeDB where it will record ins/out with achievements and also bounty's (which will be a new addition).
i just want to thank anyone who spend time uploaded images / machine info etc. im sorry it was ultimately a waste of time.

Just a quick update, machines, images and youtube videos can now be added by everyone. making some good progress now but really could do with some help with older machines.

Many thanks for the recent releases.
I'm no technical help to anyone but once ive got on top of family matters I am more than happy to donate to the site Ross.
If you pm me your detail re donations and i'l send over £20 will be next week asp.
Look forward to future releases.
Jay
Really appreciate the offer but the money is better off going to fruit emu rather than to me as this is still early days for the fmedb as it has little content at the moment.
On a side note, users can now submit machines (see screenshot) feel free to add any machines that are currentley missing i will be adding the ability to add images tomorrow (or by the end of the week at the latest)
*any new entries added will need to be approved.

Just a quick heads up, i will be starting to upload my layouts here (monopoly first) you do not need to be a member to view but you will need to be a member to download.
monopoly will be released Friday (00:01 am) and then uploaded here 2 weeks later.
i will be queuing up more layouts soon too, im hoping to get a release done at least once per week.
Thanks.

Stats so far:
Again, if anyone wants to help populate send me a pm and i will set up a log in
on a side note, if anyone has any ideas then feel free to discuss them here, im open to ideas

Looks like a good idea, so i take it everything relating To a certain machine will be under one roof.
Ie say party-time would have a flyer, photos of machine, year of manufacture, tech it runs on, emulated layouts of the machine, reel bands etc
thats the idea, you search for a machine and any information/resources available will be there in one place
Posted by ross on 28 May 2016 - 10:56 AM in Other Emulation Discussion
ill start sending out the log ins soon(on a side note: im not asking people to spend hours adding files etc. (2 files a week is still ok) db's are not an overnight completion job hehe

Hi all,
so for the last month or so i have been working on a new project, a db for fruit machines
im looking for people to help me populate it (i have about 4k images to upload and 1k+ flyers so far) i need people who have good knowledge of fruit machines and some spare time
so whats needed:
flyers
images
roms
layouts
youtube videos
information (each machine has a 'master' record that contains the main details, name , release date, tech etc. and all other records will link to that)
sounds
misc. files
anyone willing to help out feel free to pm me or reply back to this thread and ill give you a log in
to view the site is is currently stands you can see it here (bare in mind its still being developed and so will change/break every now and again)

Registration is now enabled(you will need to wait for me to approve and send you an activation link), if you are a long standing member and would to help contribute to the site let me know here and i will give you permissions (only two people so far who are adding to the site so progress is a bit slower then it could be)
Cheers.

Hi All (No, im not dead just been busy IRL) question:
would you prefer i carry with the current fmedb or do i just buy the software the old "Repro" used to use?
both have pros and cons the main one being the new fmedb is searchable / re-portable and the alternative isnt but the alternative is an instant setup and is pretty much just a case of uploading files.
i have 100gb~ of flyers ready to go that i have spent a few weeks scanning and also have around 5k small images and a slightly out of date full fme rom set ready to go.
i wont be able to buy the alternative software until payday so we have until the 31st to come to a decision. just asking since progress on the fmedb is a tad slow and fme is in dire need of a central resource hub.
Thanks, Ross
