#271427 Itbox Emu

Posted by Mavroz on 26 June 2014 - 09:48 AM in General FME Discussion

Probably an age old question but i have long forgotten...

Used to have the emu on my old xp system, worked ok. Problem is i now have a win7 based machine.

Have downloaded the emu and a sample game, "monopoly hot property"... Have searched and found Sonar and installed....

Have ran Sonar, shows the red cursor but it does not show in the game, which runs just fine by the way.

Any help on how to show the cursor so the game is playable?

Thank you.

#318105 Has it been emulated?

Why just not take it as it is not any longer available and leave it at that instead of posting the same crap on every forum you find?

Downloaded the update to try after giving up on the old one.....

Again, everything runs fine in offline mode, but nothing at all in online mode...

Any ideas anyone, any links to a guide to look through to see what i am doing wrong?

Guess it is just install and play? Nothing special to do?

Just sits there showing "Attempting to connect" after update install.. prior to this, it was just a hang screen after file library runthrough...

May be missing something, but installed Amber, ran it all ok.

Found layouts but when i clicked on one, it loaded up but doesn't boot....

Looking at the layout details, it shows roms missing although all the roms are in the library files, zipped and unzipped.....

Mine finds the layouts but has issues finding the roms...

And the speed of booting is way slow..

Hi, thanks for the reply.

The problem looks like it is down to the fact that some roms are missing, either game or sound from the downloads.

Does anyone else have speed issues?? Tried loading Corrie and it took about 5 mins to get to the Alpha Display lighting up at boot up, then just sat there so i gave up on it.

Looks like i may have had a bit of success....

I have deleted every instance of Amber from my machine and re-installed.

I have to install, then a box pops up tellling me Amber may not have installed correctly , do i wish to try again with the automatic settings for this version of windows.

On doing this, i get a good install in the "C" directory, and the box pops up asking me if i want a shortcut etc etc.

Norton did not like Sonar, so quarantined it. I have over-ridden Norton and allowed the installation.

Big Breakfast now boots up at a perfectly good speed....

Hope this may help anyone else with similar issues.

Hey Guitar,

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, i am using the newest installer 10853, can you tell me if it is uninstallable as i will remove it and re-install as the previous version i ran was about 2 years old...

When a layout loads, Coro or Big Breakfast for example, the machine starts to boot on the Alpha, but just grinds to a halt. On clicking, the circling ring appears (mouse pointer) and a box appears asking me if i want to end program or wait etc etc. If i wait, eventually i can click the dropdown tabs on the top of the emu, but again, once i click the emu screen it just hangs and never go's any further....

Do i need any extra codecs or downloads do you think?

Thx.

Yeah, i just unzip straight to the folder.

I have managed to get a couple of them "running" as such, but as i say the likes of coro seem to freeze as soon as anything appears on the alpha....

Tried again with the new installer/version...

Clicking the game, i get a white screen in amber for about 40 seconds, then the artwork appears.

Coronation St 2.1 appears on the alpha , then just seems to hang forever and a day...

None of the top tabs do anything when clicking and Amber becomes un-draggable across the screen.

Is there a specific folder Amber should be run from and / or are there any accompanying files i need other than what come with the installer?

Sorry & thanks, by the way it looks very good..

Thanks Guitar, a massive achievement and improvement since i last ran Amber.

Some excellent work there, can only guess at the time and effort that has gone into it.

One constructive early criticism for me, i am sure it may have already been mentioned and i am not sure it is a designer issue, but the areas that are not lamped (and some layouts) are very dark and near impossible to see..

Any brightness controls in the future?

Not sure about emptiers being left in the public version of the code purposely. I guess as said the test software had these enabled again for developer testing. These but hadn't been disabled when the game was made public. The only other way I see, as Edward says is if an error was in the code or mis-written.
I certainly remember the donkey Kong nudge cheat back in the day, along with the maygay power down method. Funny these are the 2 I remember Edward.
