HI all
I have just had my coin mech returned after getting it sent off to be updated for new £1
I can no for the life of me get it back in..it has one connection on the back but when i plug this in it will not click back into place in the fruit machine (pac man power up barcrest mpu6) and as such alarm 10 code error pops up
Is there a nack to doing this?
Thanks
Chris

As titlw says, its estimated that 85% of vending machines will acccept the new £1. I am not sure if that means that 85% have been converted to accepr it or it they will accep it anyway as its very similar!
Wouldnt it be lovely it tomorrow comes and we put a new coin into our machines and it just works!!...yea i know probably not but nice to dream :-)

ok just to let you all know and anyone else who stumbles across this thread, i did it !
The 2 screws in the red circles pulled it away from the machine then on the back there is 2 screws diagonal to each other...i undid these and it pulls apart,(see photo)
I then replaced the battery CR2032 and then tried a reboot...i then had to do the following
Turn machine on with the up and down button pressed, press enter to get into self test, select test ram, it should give you a result, reboot machine.
Then rebooted again and had to put date and time in then it came on and all working fine!
Many Thanks for all your help on here !

Just been told that to get the casing off i will need to remove the it from the board (unscrewign the screws in red circles) then on the back there should be more screws that i take out and it should pull apart..i will try this and report back

I am not sure about anything that needs resetting after i put battery in....when i get home tonight i will have a go at getting casing off and changing the battery..if i manage that and i hit another snag (i.e something needs resetting) then i will of course come back and ask

Ok so later on today i am going to try and get tp the MPU, i know that not many people have had much experience with a MPU6 but believe me you will all know way better than me lol.
I have attached a pic to this post of the board...I have cirlced 2 screws but i am not sure if these are the ones i should be un screwing? it looks like if i unscrew these then the whole box will just come away from the silver plate its attached too?
I assume i need to some how get into the actual casing but when having a quick look this morning i could not see how this comes apart.
Thanks again for all your help on this

The battery will look similar to this i think. (The ones you have in your link are re-chargable)
http://www.ebay.co.u...fQAAOSw4A5YvMqt
It will have legs on the one on the mpu6 and be soldered into the board. You will have to get the exact number from the old one and source a replacement.
Unless you change the mpu6, i doubt you will need the rom re-flashing to the unit you have, just changing the battery.
Like i say, these are too new for me at this time, i think i have given all info i can give.
Good luck.
and i appreciate all the help you have given me..thanks !

where exactly do this battery go? and if we manage to do that how easy is it to put the game rom back on? (i do have the rom zip)
Thanks

Hi all
I have a barcrest pacman powerup that has has been working great for over a year until tonight.
I went to switch it on and it didnt boot up apart from the cashpot sign at the top..when i opened it up it was saying mpu battery low
Here is a video of it
Is this an easy fix? bare in mind i am useless at things like this and if it involves solder etc i know it will be out of my depth.
Thanks all for any help
Chris

HI
I have sent a few e-mails out to various companies as i am trying to get my fruit machine updated to accept the new £1 when it comes out later this month.
anyways this is the email i sent
Hi
I have a Pac Man Power up fruit machine by Barcrest that i use at home,
Obviously with the new pound coin imminent i am trying to get my coin mech updated to accept the new pound coin
Is this something you would be able to do? or ir not could you reccomend a place locally where i could get this done? (i am in stockton on tees)
The fruit machine is Barcrest pacman power up MPU 6 board and has a sr5e coin mech
Many Thanks for your help
And this is the reply i got from one
Hi, we can reprogram the coin acceptor for you but there is a chance that your machine will reject the new coin sets. We have had other Barcrest machines in the past when we updated them for the new 5p / 10p a few years ago and they just alarm when your turn them on as they don't recognise the new coin set. If you want to try, you can send us you SR5e and we can update it for £45 including return postage back to you. If it does not work we can revert it back for £10 (just to cover postage).
My question is, has anyone managed to update a varcrest machine to accept the new pound coin yet? (i know its not out but i am curious to know if anyone has a coin mech that is ready and fitted and not alarming out?)
Thanks all
Chris
