I bet if I sent those two Kiss-O-Grams over to your house it wouldn't take ya all night.. ;)

Good luck Ady, as a former smoker myself I know it isn't easy. You can do it bud! :)

I'm 51 years old (or young as I say it ;) )

Yesterday I took the biggest plunge that I thought i'd never do....try!

Had the 1st of 12 1-2-1 meetings with 'Simon', a no smoking councillor

The meeting was scheduled for an hour, this went into 1h 15min's.....and so much was achieved I thought.

No pressure, no disrespecting me of  a bad habit I have......

I went in thinking "why am I here?"....came out as "I know why" :)

Yeah I appreciate this post is total bullshit to most, myself included after reading it prior to posting....but there we go...I just wanted to say something to someone/people close to my heart.

Going to a rough ride :) But i'll do it ;)

Best of luck to you my friend ... I'd love to do it as well ... i hate it costs too much nowadays anyways without even thinking of the health complications.

Every time i think of quitting i can't imagine how id ever get by without them ... become too much part of my life now .. kinda sad i know ... spose thats part of the quitting regime .. breaking that cycle of dependancy..

Anyways , let us know how its going ... 1 day at a time as they say...

Bloody hell, guy's thank you so much for all these (positive) replies.

I just logged-in and i'm bloody gobsmacked, the original post was made just as i'd got home and I thought 'I feel good about this'....These replies make me darn well more determined now.

Kudos all x

Good luck Ady!!!! I've never smoked, but heres my thoughts on it, and they may well be wrong because like I say I've never done it myself.

I reckon you can make this as simple or as difficult as you want to.

And as simple as you want, means just not putting another of those things in your mouth ever again. Just don't do it. Simple as that!

Every time you want to, just don't.

Now, no doubt someone can tell me why it isn't that simple, but for me looking in from the outside, it seems as simple as just not doing it ever again.

But like I say, good luck with it, I wish you all the best!!!!!

Good luck Ady, I too gave up the fags 15 months ago. I'm a year older than you have had been smoking since I was 14/15. I now vap, still getting my nicotine fix but not all the nasty chemicals that go with cigarettes.

I think if you are having 1to1 support then you are on the right road to giving up. It can be a long hard road but hang in there. The biggest thing you will notice is the extra cash that your not spending on fags.

Keep it up

Brian

Yeah, good luck, if you commit you will succeed. There are so many support systems to aid quitting nowadays.  Still tough though.

I must admit I used to smoke a lot of weed back in the 90's, I started regular smoking as a result, I'm still a social smoker unfortunately.

Ady i am 52 and quit smoking april 1993, I try to quit before many times and failed because i underestimated the power of niccotine, It is a very powerful drug, How i finally quit was i had a fag on the hour and every 3 days i added 15 minutes to my time so i slowly weened myself off of the niccotine, it worked without using any substitute, good luck you can do it ! I gained 2 stone in weight when i quit, the cravings get easier too, My advice what i did i put aside the money i would spend weekly in a jar and at the end of the month i used money saved to reward myself and bought meself some new floyd cd's :-)
