Can I just say a big THANK YOU to who ever made it possible for us to have this amazing emu. A while back i said i was going to use this emu for one task and one task only, to give up fruit machines. You know what it's worked and I have stopped 100%. I have got my life back and money in my wallet. It may be to late to save my last relationship but I know the next will be better. People with a compusive gambaling addiction like me know how we lie to cover our track and how decetfull we are. I am just so glad that after 17 years of playing fruit machines i have given it up. It's only been 10 weeks since i started and only 6 weeks at GA but I feel so much better in myself. I know people will say that if u play the emu you are still gambaling, but the thing is that i used to to see what a real rip the machines are. I put 100's and 100's in reo and never got a penny and the same for the £25 machines. they are a rip. well anyways i hope to stick to this and keep it up. As a test i went to my local arcade today with 200 notes in me back pocket and walked out 5 minutes later with 200 notes. I was able to go in and not have the temptation of putting in all MY HARD EARND CASH.

Fantastic! I think we all know about compulsion with the machines (that's what they are created to exploit), and really good to hear you are avoiding it.. I wouldn't test yourself walking in there too many times though, best to just plain steer clear ---- and GA say one day at a time don't they..

Again though - well done!!

Thanks James. I will tell you one thing it's not been easy, and I know it going to be hard over the next few months too. I am looking for somthing to fill the gap now and am thinking about driving lesson. somthing i have always wanted to do but could never afford it as to my gambaling.

Congratulations and well done. You should feel proud. I've been gambling free for close to 8 years now ( after over 10 years of fruit machine addiction) and all i can say the longer you go the easier it is.

Now I look at fruit machines and just about every other type of gambling for what it is. Fixed in favour of the machine/bookie/system. Once you see past the flashing lights and realize that long term you'll always lose, you'll never be tempted again

Well done - it's not easy to get away from the machines - I used to spend HUNDREDS on them years ago. I seemed to stop playing them when they got less interesting (well, for me anyway) which was when the Hi-Lo started to get used as a gamble on virtually every machine.

I still play the oldies if I get the chance, but it's small change and I get a lot of enjoyment.

Keep up the good work!! :bigeyes02:

congrats, the way i found to give them up was start playing the S16 one and once you have won the jackpot it can get very boring to go on a few days later and win nothing, so you rarely bother with them again..

i think the only thing i waste my money on now is the bloody lottery and if it wasnt for the fact i know my numbers i would have gave up ages ago

Nice one James. I can vouch for the fact that it gets easier. The thing is to keep off them until such a time comes that you don't even recognise them anymore. There are a few posts in the history of this forum if you search for "addictions" mine included amongst them to inspire you and others to give up the fruities for good. You wouldn't believe how far your money will go until you quit for good. Nice one!!!

Eh? If you play the emu you are still gambling? I don't geddit, please explain.

I can understand that if you are a member of GA you must abstain from ALL FORMS OF GAMBLING (a real pain, you even have to watch what you buy at the supermarket .... one packet of crisps - IS THERE A CRISP £20 NOTE INSIDE? - could be a relapse, negligence being no defence) but please to explain.

Are you staking fourpence worth of electricity against the hope of gaining 12 microns of pleasure at getting a Jackpot Repeater on Supa Steppa?

Have you thought about taking up the heroin? Excellent gap filler.

Just want to say a big thanks to everyone for their possotive support. ;-)
All i have to do now is find a way to let my ex let me see my son. When we split she stopped me from seeing him and that was back in sept last year. He will be 19months now and walking and i have not even seen him do that. I am going thro the courts but she has decided to make up some bullsh1t. so now cafcas are involved and its all very messy and upsetting.
