yeah read that but I guess he died happy- he was doing what he loved doing- being mm away from the wildest bloddy most dangerous animals on the planet. He wouldnt have felt a thing either- straight through the heart that stingray struck- instant curtains.

Dunno about being through the heart being 'instant curtains', but it wouldn't have been a particularly slow death.

On a positive note, the hard work he put into conservation will hopefully be continued in his absence.

I couldn't believe it myself! I was talking to someone on mIRC and they told me. They sent me a link which showed me what happened... I didn't understand how such a good happy man could die like that. Damn shame, he left two kids and a beautiful wife.

My condolences to Steve Irwin's family and friends.

When asked about his favourite TV shows as a kid, Steve Irwin smiled and said, "I was a big fan of Thunderbirds as a kid, but I guess there will always be a place in my heart for Stingray..."

It's a big shame, he was a well respected person with the things he did.

The thing about stingray, that's really sad.

Sorry to quote you KRISP2003 but its just you mentioned his kids.

Is it right though a Michael Jackson moment should be forgotten?

When I was 15 I started work in a Dolphinarium (scorned now-a-days I know) and that was a job I did for 6 years, I knew the Sealions and there was a massive Bull male I knew didn't have it in his heart to hurt me, but One day Dylan saw fish in my hand and bit me as hard as he could to grab his 'treat'....wild animals have their instincts, these they should maintain to be themselves, but I wouldn't allow my parents that close as I was, let alone a 1 month child!

Steve will be missed, he did a lot of good for the animal world, and our knowledge....this I totally respect, but that One silly moment stuck in my mind.

I saw this story at 5am on the BBC news website this morning and that hadn't had a mention, though throughout the day it was......

I'm really sorry he died, I know he did a lot of good and I also had great fun from his programs too...I didn't add the above to speak bad...but just to make us think,

Showman or Preservanist?

Sad to see someone with genuine enthusiasm die although I guess he was doing the job he loved. Should he have known better?

I saw the baby incident. I have to say that I don't care how talented you "think" you are...and he did seem to have some kind of rapport with animals....You don't, I repeat, DON'T put your own baby in danger....especially a child. That was bang out of order.

R.I.P. Steve.

P.S: Shame must also go on the event owners and the stupid ponces that made up the crowd for applauding him for holding his baby in one arm and feeding a croc with the other. When will people learn????
