I'm having the same problem when I use Opera, works fine with IE though. It was fine with Opera last week.

I've switched the protection off for now and we'll see what happens.
Will this put a strain back on the server duplu?

No, it just means that other sites can hot link to our images, not a huge problem. I was however getting a huge number of http 404 errors in the log because one of the users has linked to their avatar on FE a year ago when we used to run on PHP-Nuke!! The avatar no longer exists but it doesn't stop the other site hammering the site looking for it. The other site just happens to be a torrent site so gets a fair few hits!
