Hi guys,

I recently moved up to nottingham from kent. The Arcades in Kent offer a Self exclusion programme where you can fill out a form and ban yourself from the arcade fir 1 year. If you try to go in the owners can call the police if you wont listen to the. There are many arcades in nottingham (most the skanking sun valley one's) and I have not seen anything about self exclusion up here.

Has anyone else heard of the scheme and have they banned themselves from the arcades in a way to help quit?

As I understand it, online gambling facilities HAVE to offer this service.

As for real life, I can see some people getting themselves banned, getting pissed, going back in, demanding to play machines, and then smashing the place up. Why do some have to ruin it for the few...

I think this is something which needs to be available in all arcades. Much in the same way that almost all pub chains now offer reasonable priced soft drinks for those that either drive, or want to give up drinking, there should be a system for allowing gamblers to ban themselves.

You could always go in and make such a scene they have no choice but to ban you?

Unfortunately even if you are so addicted that you need self exclusion to stop yourself entering at weak moments - they have fruit machines in pubs/ bingo halls etc. etc.. So you would need to exclude yourself from life.. Try another method - GA should help.. Butmaybe association.. Everytime you play a fruit machine run a small electric shock to your arm (just kidding).. But maybe if you download these emulators after a time you will be sated and not want to play them.. Alternately as already suggested buy one for home (I haven't really got the space anymore myself), or another way is to start a voluntary scheme yourself. Approach the amusement centres and ask if they would be willing to start this scheme, maybe you could even spearhead it and start up as a campaigner.. Or alternately.. One that I don't really suggest you do is to marry a millionaire's daughter so it doesn't matter how much you lose in the arcades.
