I Have been on Dial Up for a very Long time with AOL... But Did @ a Time Had AOL Broadband........
But I Caused a Very Serious Windows Problem and NEVER RECONNECT again due to a IP ADDRESS ERROR
Then went back to AOL Dial Up...
Suddenly Got a Better Deal ... NTL 2mb Broadband .. £17.50 a MONTH ..
which AOL offered me 1mb for £19.99 a MONTH
This is Because Our House Are connected with NTL TV Package ( FULL ) and Phone Line , so e got Broadband Cheaper
well 1mb is £9.99 a Month the deal TODAY is on OFFER..But LIMITED TIME
Well You may post your comments to say If AOL Is Good or Not ...
Or NTL is BETTER
I Just Need your thoughts :-)

I've got the ADSL version of broadband from NTL. Costs me something like 15 or 16 quid. Still stuck in the slow lane by comparison at 576k. I've heard nothing about whether they're gonna upgrade the speed or not although, lately i've been having disconnections sometimes for up to an hour so they must be up to something. I get a feeling they may be starting to cap bandwidth coz it usually happens when i'm torrenting and me and the missus are both on the net on two machines.
Does anyone know anything about their plans for ADSL?
If they don't do something soon I'm off to bulldog for 8meg.

I had NTL 1MB when it was a new thing and I was very pleased with it..Only reason I got rid was I had rows with the billing.
Now oddly enough I have AOL ADSL 1MB which is due a 2mb upgrade next week.
AOL lots of 'stuff' running I didn't want and took an age to get it as I wanted it.....but it has been very reliable, but a little more expensive.
So my non-tech answer is.....whatever is cheapest!

I used to love my telewest broadband 1meg. I went and got my woman up the duff so we had to get a place of our own. Private renting and the landlord won't let us touch the bt phone line or have telewest in so I guessed nearly a year ago NTL was cheapest and no-one else really had ventured beyond 512k then so i went for them. IMO telewest was superb, loved em. Never once had problems with them and their tech support never fobbed me off with BS or treated me like a thick knuckle head like NTL's have.

I have aol broadband 1mb and iam now running at 2mb
As ady says was a free upgrade to 2mb had no problems what so ever with them .
It is a little more expensive but runs at top speed sometimes more i can easyly download at speeds of 237kbs .
Was a bit of a faff setting up wireless but thats my only complaint with aol ..

Im on aol paying £24.99 a month on 576k still waiting for them to upgrade me to 1mb since new customers can get 576k cheaper now and im still paying £24.99? They are abit behind as ntl got a free upgrade months ago.

They only upgraded their cable customers tho. Us lot on ntl ADSL r still stuck on 576k too.
I think we're (AOL+NTL ADSL) waiting for things to be upgraded at the BT exchanges.
The cable service only needs turning up and it's done.
I still can't comprehend how we get these speeds through crappy copper wire exchanges - i used to deliver new equipment to the bt exchanges and compared to that stuff the adsl section of these places looked like they belonged in the forties.

I'm on NTL 2MB, and it's been good, apart from a few months ago I had an intermitent connection which was a pain, as they wouldn't send an engineer out till they saw a problem from their end, so I had to sit on the phone for ages every time the connection dropped, and I had the time. Typically it always dropped when I was in a hurry, and didn't have the time, However when they finnaly saw the problem, got an engineer out in about two days, and it was a dodgy modem. since then I ain't had no problems, and I have a server running on it so there is a lot of mainly FTP traffic.
As for AOL, the name puts me off, let's face it we're not the 51st state.

I've got AOL 2mb and have never had a problem with it. I have got a router with 3 computers attached that is connected 24/7 so for 30 odd quid its not a bad deal for me
