to play the older mfme1.0-9.4-10.1 games in the newer Mfme6.1 you'll need to download mfme5.1 to be able to convert the older layouts dat'files to the newer fml.file once you've converted them you'll then be able to play them in mfme6.1 which is available via desert islandfruits.com

when you exit a layout it will ask you whether you want to save the game or not, you save it to the new fml'file as dat.files aren't compatible with 6.0+

Once converted, be sure to check out

http://www.fruit-emu...-29#entry317767

for a lot of fix information for different machines as quite a few particularly scorpion 4 machines need some, usually easy to do alterations to get them to work.

The thread also contains several already fixed and v6.0 onwards ready to play layouts.

It's simple.

As soon as you close a layout in v5.1, even if you've literally just opened it, it will say save changes, hit yes and it will automatically save it to being a .fml file, which can then by opened in v6.0 onwards.

Try pressing Ctrl W, the layout may be in read only mode.

Then close and save.

Yeah should do.

It's all automatic really - just open the non-running layouts up in v5.1, close them, select save when prompted and then they'll work in v6.1.

We're in the middle of a transition phase where the goal one day is to just have one emulator for everything.  The new fml file format is a much more efficient way of doing things.  It's a small inconvenience now but it will all be much better in the long run.

What about the JPemu layouts? Do we have to use the converter tool to convert to dat then convert that to fml using MFME 5.1 or have most layouts that ran in Jpemu now already converted? I have about 36 that only run in Jpemu.

a lot of them have been converted, but you need to convert each layout from jpemu to mfme using the tool, then open them in 5.1 and save ;)

If you haven't already, join up at Desertislandfruits http://www.desertisl...forum/index.php

There are more Jpemu conversions over there.

You'll need to know the convert process first, which means some knowledge of how to use the convert tools and how to use the tools in MFME to get the converted layout loaded and configed

There are some layouts that can't be converted because the convert tool (which is quite old now), throws up errors that can't be bypassed and the conversion process doesn't finish.

Once converted, the converted layout needs to be loaded into MFME v5.1, then you can either just close it and save or you can configure it, then save it. It can then be open with v6.1 onwards. Obviously if you didn't configure it in v5.1 after conversion, you'll need to do it in v6.1.
