Here is my first layout, next to do is the reels and lamps.

I would like your opinions on the artwork. I have 2 designs but i am unsure which to use for the final project.

Quite pleased with it so far.

Justin

Edit: It is also a 1280x1024 WDX, if you are interested.

Also maybe I should remove the barcrest logo and place it where the donkey is?

I think you should leave the donkey out of it,and make the jewels, the barcrest logo and the cowboy bigger so it fills the right hand side a bit more!,there is too much empty space, brill anyway, glad to see this layout is going to be a lot lighter than the last one........

OR....move the lucky strike logo down a bit more, then put the cowboy and the barcrest logo at the bottom, still making the jewels a lot bigger!!!!

I have added a few more larger gems. Any Better?

I am unsure tbh, while changing the layout i moved the barcrest logo down slightly (to where it is now) without adding the gems and it looked ok.

Thanks for the comments,

Any more would be appriciated.

The one with the Donkey probably gets my vote, although I tend not to worry too much about side art :)

If you kept the donkey, theres always the option of a speech bubble containing stuff ala my 'By Jove' knight on my Your Lucky Knight layout.

If you get stuck while working on any of the technical aspects of the layout, feel free to PM me, add me to MSN, e.t.c. :)

EDIT] Just noticed you posted another image while I was typing this - looks quite nice with all the gems :)

I'd say do it however you like, noone should complain about the side art, and it looks 100% to me so far :)

Personally i think the side art improves the play of the machine, take for example DXCELLENT's layouts, talk about pukka!!!,Jewels could be a lot bigger, but not too much bigger and the barcrest should be made to look like the cowboy IS jumping over it rather than the barcrest logo looking like it is in the distance!,aka bigger so that the circle doesnt stretch further out than the heels of the cowboy..........

I'd like to know how side art improves the play of the machine?

I think it shows creative flair but to be honest, these days I minimise the side art and use the extra window space to chat in MSN and IRC.

Yep 12 hours ago...and I was shown the clean a/w!!!!.....all that time Ross :(

J_ustin just curious, you say you first layout.....what guide if any did you use? as thats worth taking note of to quote to future questions with results like that, very nice looking :) ....

And the side art--whats it matter, don't want it then just drag it over----

Looks to me to be close to Scorpios 'blueprint', maybe just me but I'd say it was a guide of his :)

Ill have a little fiddle with the sideart now,see what else i can come up with.

Personally i like the playing with sideart, but its personal preference.

I have followed Scorpios layout for the design but i am using Hurtands guide for lamps etc. Seems alot easier to follow, regarding lamping etc.

Have people followed both guides? are the results the same?

I remember playing the lucky strike machine in the same/similar cab a few years ago and for a good couple of years before, I think thats why i chose the cab etc.

I used the green cab from Smash n Grab, but then adjusted the hue/saturation for the colour I wanted.

Thanks for all feedback, very much appriciated.

I will post up my new designs to see what you think.

Justin
