Managed to pic up a particularly tatty Austin Powers today for £125 [it's an ex-kebab shop machine - i.e it has been punched in the mech and the blanking plastic from where a notemech would go is missing, but will be here in a week!]

Anyway, need the real £5 decals. I have the £25, and the £8/£5 Photocopies, but the real ones are what I am after. The photocopies on the cash ladder are IMPOSSIBLY dark to use - honestly!

So, if anyone has the decals [stake + prize key sorted already], PLEASE let me know, I can't be arsed using these super-dark copies!

I can pay by cash and paypal, cheque [but would like them ASAP and cheques take too long to clear IMHO] :)

I'm off to sand down the ripped to shite paintwork on the metal that joins the top and bottom glass, not sure if I'll respray or leave it as bare polished metal [think it might look ok on such a bright machine!]

Regards,

Ben

Wonder if it is possible to print decals on a inkjet onto inkjet acetate, as thats see through and should be able to handle the heat from the lamps (seeing as it can handle use in a overhead projector.)

I remember your previous thread about barcrest throwing a fit over making decals (shame on barcrest!).

Cant seem to find any decent austin powers graphics on the net, maybe someone could scan em in, I would not mind trying as I want to build my own austin powers machine (got the bits, apart from cabinet and glass).
Not bothered about the cabinet, got ideas on that front, but will probably need to make up my own glass, could always do my own version of the glass, that way barcrest cant complain :)

I wonder if barcrest actually pay royalties on the images they use, I know on the IGT website they show who copyright belongs to for games like austin powers etc, but I wonder if they bother with asking permission, and coughing up - would not suprise me if they didnt (from what I have read on the net, their poor support, terrible testing, crap coding, and also including one former employee stating that they are a bunch of racists...) (I sometimes wonder also why did maygay remove the simpsons machines from their site - was that to do with copyright issues?)

Good luck with the decals, nowt worse than a new machine, and something "missing" or fecked - spoils the fun of playing the new machine

i believe they buy the copyright for the fruit machine license only.

the rep from barcrest said they have bought the sole rights to the reproduction of elvis tracks for the next year(which would have cost a fortune!!!)
but
they will only be using them on the fruit machines.

TBH in dark light the decals don't look too bad, they looked shite at first because the sun was streaming through the window.

They'll be usable [photocopied £5 and £8], but would still like the originals.

Having said that, the inside of the machine has fallen to bits [well, the vacform lamp assembly with the MUX5 boards on has 'fallen' off the glass] - no surprise when you see the size of the top decal! [it is HUGE].

Anyway, I'm treating it as a project machine. I've stripped the paint from the strip of metal between the glasses, and rather than being pink with knife marks in [bloody kebab shop gang chavs], it is now bare metal, matt finish [wire wool ;)] and looks great, captures refections brilliantly :)

Anyway, next up is lining up the 3rd reel. 1st 2 are fine, last one is about 1cm above the normal, going to change it when I'm sober [I lose less bolts that way!]

EDIT] No chance of buying some decals from your lot then Baz ? :(

Did you take the metal out when you polished?
If so is it easy to get out? Tempted to do the same on my pie factory

Nope, left in and did with wire wool. Be warned, it took me about 2 hours, and I can't use the thumb and forefinger on my right hand :)

Still, it looks great IMHO, I may well strip down the button panel next, take that to bare metal. Not sure about rust but then being my own machine I'm sure I can keep it rust-free :)

If you have a pound shop nearby see if they have any krylon clear gloss acrylic spray paint. Ours have it in, going to use that on my machines when sober enough and have some free time :). Should keep the nice shine, and protect it from rust.
Wish they had some in when I did the showtime, know the feeling about losing feeling in hands, took bloody ages to sand down the paint from the button panel on the showtime, but looked spectacular (pardon the pun) when it was re-sprayed.

Only problem is, without a gloss coat over it, the slightest knock will scratch the damn paint off, which happened, now I need to re-spray and then apply lacquer. Had same problem years ago when I used to spray my own cycle frames - without a clear top coat its a waste of time. (heres hoping the krylon stuff is as good as the halfords car paint lacquer is used years ago)
