Been programming our coin mechs for new £1 coin and have come across an awkward one.
We have a C123 coin mech which accepts most coinage and diverts 10p coins to a hopper.
When upgrading the mech to new 10p a few years ago I had to make a very wide window (not an ideal solution but worked) on Channel 4 so the mech would take old and new 10p coins and divert them to the hopper properly, as when I programmed the new 10p on channel 10 (the corresponding channel) the machine would not credit or operate the divert gate.
However with the new £1 coin, this is now accepted as a 10p due to this wide window, so need to make changes!
The operating of the divert gate is linked to a certain coin channel (in this case channel 4) which is programmed into the mechs eprom. When a 10p coin is inserted, the mech outputs a pulse on pin 5 which the machine recognises and in turn gives credit and operates the divert gate. Not 100% sure this is how it's done as I don't have a C123 manual, however I did look at the SR3 manual Type 2 technical manual which is where I got this info from. An SR3 mech in mode 5 is a direct replacement for a C123.
All other coins pulse on a normal output pin.
On to a question, is it possible to alter the mech so I can tell it to operate the divert gate on another coin channel (as well as the current channel 4)?
I'm using the Mektek 3 programmer and can see no option in Eprom utilities for doing this. I also thought of wiring a coin output pin (3,4,7,8,9 or 10) to pin 5 but pulses are of different duration so doubt this would work.
I've attached what I found from the Sr3 Type 2 manual (pinout is the same as the C123)
Any help appreciated:)
