I love Christmas especially the tree, i also never always got what i asked for, but thats how things were. I'm a sucker for christams lights. I blame this for my gambling great post btw tbh my christmas starts after new years day as im working straight through until then.

 i remember getting eagle eye action man which i saw mum pick up from a jumble sale but it was just a body arms and head with no legs she said as long as i kept it in the tank my mates wont know

My mum, used to do the jumble sales as well. In fact even though, she isn't short of money now, she still loves to find a jumble sale or similar on a Saturday morning.

Seriously since I started working for a major supermarket 17 years ago, I hate Christmas. We get in in our faces from September. People still enjoying the sunshine and we have mince pies on sale.

I remember as a lad going shopping with my mum at Christmas time and you had to do a big shop because the shops were shut for four to five days. People are still doing big shops for Christmas and then they are back again Boxing Day for another trolley load. We don't get extra wages for working Boxing Day, so do us a favour an boycott the shops this Boxing Day, if they are not taking any money at the tills, then maybe they'll stay shut next year. oh and don't get me started with Sunday trading.

It's very sad to hear that multi billion £ companies do not honour stat bank holidays.

That said Bri(and im sure you will disagree with me,re yr point above),having worked as a nurse for well over 23 years in multiple areas of the workplace,I was so dependent upon shops been open 24/7.

Moreover I mainly worked nights and later in my career I worked 24hr sleep ins.

We live in a 24 hour world and have done now for many years.

I have friends in London and outer London where all the shops,supermarkets etc are open all year round.

As a country we have to adapt to this. I appreciate that people(like yrself)who work in the industry,do need to be treated fairly re hours and pay.

Yet many people in a multitude of job roles work unsocial hours and we have to start to look at the bigger picture,however reluctant to change a minority may be.

So my vote would sit firmly in bringing in 24/7 opening hours-7 days a week.-starting today

I always seemed to get ruddy dressing gowns-mainly from my mother!!

 

An appeal to all mum's and dad's out there,do not buy yr children clothes post 12years of age-give em vouchers or a prompt with xmas cash to get some new clothes,but don't buy them for them.

They will in the majority of cases detest what you get for them.

I'm fecking 41 and my mum still will throw in the odd garment at xmas!!!-the mind boggles
