Hi all

I mentioned in my previous thread that my fruit machine (barcrest Pacman power up) was putting pound coins into the bottom tub even though the hopper was no where near full.  I was unsure on how to correct this and after playing about this is what i did.

I attached 2 fobs to the sensors and activated hopper dump, i then pressed the start button and it emptied out the cash from the hopper.  It said something like 211 short, something like that.

I then thought i just had to use the refill key and put it all back in, but when i touched the refil fob it started at 211 so when i was putting coins in it was going down to 210 209 etc.

so i did hopper dump again, and again it said i was short, this time i did another hopper dump so it said i was short by 250 then when i refilled it counted down from 250 to about 135 so i knew i had put 115 in the hopper.

Does this sound right or should it have been counting up when i used refill?

I am not sure if i have done this right or not?

Chris

that's the way I recently did mine by the looks of things you hopper without note validator working will take £250 so you've put £115 into it with £135 remaining. If like mine £70 machine and you have a note validator working, the hopper will need £350 and a minimum of £125 in the hopper for the note validator to work

edit to add you say you attached two fobs too dump the hopper, if you open the bottom door and where the cash tray is there should be a black switch this is also a hopper dump switch

In later Barcrest machines they did away with a button, and only allowed you to dump the hopper using the second Dallas Key fob?

ahh thanks aamusements just goes to show how different the machines insides actually are between manufactures. since being a member of this site I've learnt more about the machine's differences than just the image and reels on the frontage!

It's only because I remembered reading through the manual recently. They switched to fobs to increase security against tooling/empties, I think.
I seem to remember that there is a third fob with some as well, can't remember what for though.

the barcrest era on machines you mention always left the hopper at the level it counted to, so yes you were doing it right. the idea would be to put the coins it dumped back in.

(other machines such as electrocoin dump the machine but then leave the machine at zero).

like you mention, you have two options. either add extra coins via the refil key, or dump the hopper again (with no coins in it) and refill via placing the coins directly in the hopper untill full (£250) and press hopper top up.

* FOBS as i remember were  -

yellow for inside the main door

dk green for main CPU/mpu6 i believe

and a 3rd could have been orange for dump. (been a year and forgot)

Thanks for your reply, they way i did it at the end was i emptied the hopper, it said i was so much short (i realise now i should have just put the coins back in and it would have been fine) but i then emptied the hopper again (when there was nothing in) it said i was 250 short so i then fed my coins via refil key in the coin insert slot.  So im hoping this is now ok.
