Hi guys, just after a bit of help if possible please!

I've got a Deal or no deal Big Reds, which is a Scorpion 5 machine. It currently has an NV10 note acceptor which works fine. I wanted to install an NV7 for the note stacker box, and I presumed that it would be a straight swap of cables from the old acceptor to the new one. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case. The old note acceptor didn't ask for a BNV key, and worked as soon as plugged in.

The new one when plugged in, does the initialisation of the stacker unit, but the light does not come on. Then, I get a "Note Mech err 15" after the fruit machine initialises. I've tried changing dip switch 8 and 13, but still getting the same error. I've tried all the dip switches on the note acceptor to change the protocol on there, as I understand CC talk is dip switch 3 and 4 down.

Also, I get the same error if there is no note acceptor plugged in at all.

When I plug the NV10 back in, it works immediately.

I wonder if for some reason the fruit machine can't see the NV7 note acceptor?

The fruit machine does say that only serial acceptors can be used on the machine. I assume that my NV7 is serial when in CCTalk mode? The date on the NV7 is 2003, so could this be a factor?

The note acceptor light does flash like a strobe at times, therefore making me think that some communication is getting through, but not the right one? Could it be a protocol setting on the machine that I need to change?

Any and all advice greatly appreciated!

Cheers!

I'm not great with these but don't you have to put it in test and put the serial number in and store it in bnv in test mode?

Hi Dave thanks for the reply!

The BNV does need to be set, which I have done, but it keeps saying "BNV No Response". I am entering the BNV key that is on the note acceptor, and I have also tried 123456 and 000000 - none of them work.

However, when setting the BNV on my NV10 note acceptor, the machine instantly accepts 123456 and the note acceptor is good to go.

But with the NV7 that I am trying to install, I think it is some sort of communication problem between the machine and the acceptor, but I am not sure exactly what.

i didn't think a nv7 was compatible with scorp 5. We have always used nv10 or jcm eba 12,eba 22 or taiko.

I remember getting an NV7 to work with my Club Jackpot Junction machine a few years back, but it was running on Scorp 4 tech. I just assumed it would also work on a Scorp 5 machine.

After all, if an NV10 works (which it does, I've got one lol), I don't see why an NV7 wouldn't work?

P.s. Dave, I couldn't get those photos to open :(

I've got an EBA 22 note acceptor here, but I can't get the correct wiring loom for that, so I can't test if it works on my machine lol!
