Common sense was used today.

Ive been getting a memory reset error, tested the battery, yep 1v if your lucky. (The battery is only 3 months old!)

So ive put a new one in today and thats cured that problem but recently ive also had this Mech Note Err 1.6, even though it doesnt have a note acceptor and all the dip switches are on 0.

So I managed to get it into test mode while it was givving the error on the screen probably every 1 second, then you can see test mode then it goes back to the error then test mode blah blah ....

I got to the DIP switch test, with all the switches on (on the main board set to 1) I got 1111 1111 1111 1111 on the screen, all is hunky dorey.

I set the board switches to 0s and I got somthing along the lines of 10101101001 which they were all changing rapidly as if someone was flicking them on and off.

Soo how do I go about this? Its it completly shagged from battery damage or is there anythign I can remove from the board which tells the processor all the swtches are off? I dont use them for anything as they are always on 0.

Tar!

Had another fiddle, if i set them all to 1 and push them idividually back to 0 they all work fine, 5 seconds later they flicker all over the place and all go back to 1.

Not seen an epoch go like this before, but near enough every epoch I have seen that has been hit with battery leakage = game over.

Happens this Gridrunner I have just picked up, as managed to escape with the minimum of leaks, so I know I have been very lucky here.

Only thing I can suggest is getting the board on to another known working machine to soak test, and see what happens.

But if the board is giving me DIP switch readings all over the places isnt it most likely to be the board? I dont want to shell out £35 £40 on a new board if the machine only cost me £40 in the first place, is it not worth just sticking on ebay?

Yea sounds like your board is shot unfortunately...  I've got loads of Epoch boards if you want one (just cover postage if you wouldn't mind).  They were all working when removed but now untested (I've unsoldered the batteries on most of them)

I know this is a bit cheeky of me asking..... got a blue simpsons in at the mo and 100% mainboard has failed, with possibly an issue with the lamp board too (Stuck lamps).... If I crossed your palm with some silver so to speak, would you be able to assist at all?

Will be doing testing on it tonight, so I will know for sure what has failed by using Gridrunner's parts to test.

So happens I have done a short test, and got a reset issue (According to the LED on the mainboard), using a known working epoch board..... suspect an issue with the PSU (Not tried a known working PSU yet) as I only had an untested PSU to check with at the time.

Sod that..... better off fitting a new MK2 PCB if available.

These stadium PSU's are well known for being dodgy as hell at the best of times, and even with the working one I have now can tell it's a MK1 with the way it buzzes it's tits off.
