Hi all,

I'm pretty new to owning a fruit machine but know I have run into some problems. The Scorpion 5 Bobby Dazzler machine I have has been stored at my brothers for a time where it was working fine. I finally got the space to put it at mine and eventually get it moved and found it was dead.

Checking the main board the battery had leaked and corroded the tracks so I bought a new Scorpion 5 board. It was advertised as tested and working and it did bring it back to life but with some errors.

The two errors that come up on display are - Fatal IIC 2; followed by Security ERR 41. I assumed maybe the main board wasn't working correctly so I sent it back and they sent a new one but it has the same issue.

Does anyone have any idea where to start looking for the fault on this?

Thanks in advance.

Little update.

I've dumped the ROMs from the game board and compared them to the set in MAME (set 4, I think) and they've checked out fine. One thing I've noticed is that in the original set in MAME there are 3 .bin files which I think are the security PIC files. Can anybody confirm this?

I've read that Security ERR 41 is to do with the Stake/Prize key but I have checked this out and it is set up fine and the switches test fine on a multi-meter.

Another strange thing I've noticed, is that playing my dumps (and any other dumps) through my version of MAME makes a 'Fatal IIC 1' error come up.

So, to sum up, I've tested some things and got nowhere :)

Odd. If it was a different tech I would ask if you had remembered to swap the security chips over with the ROMS, but there aren't any on these as far as far as I remember?

Are they a fixed chip on these? I don't recall a removable one.
