I put one of my machines on there about a week ago, over 10 hours it got 2 bids, then taken down as I hadnt displayed my 'gambling commission licence number'

So my argument is, ive watched 4 machines go through a full 7 day auction stated as fully working, with no licence number, and they dont get taken down? Theres ones on ebay right now in the same situation and theirs are still up? How are they getting around this? These arent sellers either they are just normal people on ebay selling stuff they have, not a machine specialist or dealer?

So is there anyway I can get around with putting them on ebay without a number? Is there anything I can say on the advert, is it possible to use (if someone is kind enough) someone elses licence number?

Thanks!

eBay generally remove machine listings when someone reports them, but there is no rhyme or reason and you mustn't expect any consistency.

Using someone else's license number could theoretically end in a court appearance so I would strongly advise against it.

Ive done about 3 other auctions in the past and they were all taken down very quickly, and I guess copy and pasting a number isnt allowed then :(

It's possible that once they remove one listing they may well flag your account so that future transgressions are more quickly detected.

Why not sell them on here, the MPU Mecca, Fruit Machine Sales, Gumtree, or Facebook? I'm going to try selling one of mine on Facebook over the weekend, through the local 'buying and selling' page (I'm sure most towns have one of these now!!). Local advertising like that often means you catch buyers who don't realise how easy things like machines are for the public to obtain.

As for eBay, my first machine sale of 2011 lasted several days before it was cancelled, but when I tried to list another one a couple of months later it was cancelled within a couple of hours, and I was given a warning that if I did it again my account would be restricted. Mind you that might have been as I was undercutting a large machine business on eBay by 50% on the particular machine... I honestly believe that most legitimate sellers report any listings that they see as competition. If it's an old / crappy machine of no interest to a large supplier I find they tend to last a bit longer before being pulled :)

Reading the post I was thinking the same. Have seen in the past a few members posting threads for the sale of their slots.

And on another note I detest Ebay, with past selling issues ive also encountered!! There are other sites to sell on but they are all out there to make a fast buck out of you.

Have you tried some of the free ad papers Cardie, also local adverts in the supermarkets-anything worth ago if you want to sell them.

Local selling pages on Facebook seam to be the way to go these days, and best thing is, not having to faff about with delivery and such.

I'm still selling my pacman power up looking for £120 for it, it lasted 2 days on eBay even though I said for spares and didn't work...all I got was people wanting to give £30-£50 for it for parts or hoping it was a real easy fix for £50.

Other sellers report em because it brings the price down and also if someone wants a certain machine they may report it so they can make you an offer coz U can't sell it.

Think it been trying to sell pacman now for 4 months. Been removed 3 times lol had 2 warnings so I give up

The issue that I find with Facebook local selling pages is that many of the people that inhabit them often seem vaguely feral...
I removed myself from 2 of these sort of sites last night due to high levels of stupid, and it wasn't even aimed at me... I just got fed up of reading it!

Depends on the actual selling page rules etc from what I have seen, but yes I am generally with you on that one.

Found one of the Nottingham pages to be quite good at keeping #@#@#@#s out etc, and they generally do a good job.

Funny coincidence, I'm going to sell my Power Up too, although mine's got an NV7 and I paid silly money for it only a few weeks back (silly as in 'too much'!).

Tempted to do my usual thing and just break it for spares, but since MPU6 machines are now flooding the market at £100-ish price levels, it means that spares are also rapidly becoming worthless. That and I couldn't reprogram the MPU6 myself, so I'd be looking at someone with another Power Up, or selling to trade (who will probably pay bugger all since most are abandoning MPU6, at least for pubs).

Facebook selling pages are a pain, you can never find your own ad again through 100's of adds to bump the thing.

Its f***ed it totally for people who want a fruit because everyone now knows how hard they are to get rid of!

Might be trading mine for a gameswarehouse with a screen calibration fault :)

I keep promising myself that I'll only buy cheap machines, and then I don't mind breaking them for spares and taking the cabinet to the tip in flat-packed form. When you pay 'trade' prices though, it's a nightmare because you've paid over the odds and practically have to give the machine away.
