hi people i have a scorpion 5 bell-fruit walk of wealth deal or no deal. i purchased about 8 months ago and she has been working quite well but one morning i fired her up and

im getting ram err 53, ive checked everywhere and it seems i have to change the internal battery but i really dont have a clue how or what to do.

if anyone can give me some info or a small guide that would be great! i build my own pcs and am familiar with motherboards but ive never tackled these on fruit machines and

i am a tad scared of the thing so like i said if anyone wishes to help me that would be great thanks :)

Assuming it's deffo the on-board battery, if you look top right in this pic, you will see a small green block (Often with the words Varta on it), which will be the battery.

There is a possibility this has leaked (Which can be bad news), or it just requires replacement (Can be found via aaamusements site, link which is in my sig, or via e-bay).

Any ram clear / Battery messages on any machine, are often the result of issues with the on-board battery, but can also relate to the memory being corrupted, or program changes, and in some rare cases, require the battery to be shorted out for 5 seconds with a wire to force a full and proper reset (As was the case on this Astra Joker Poker (Heber Pluto 5) I serviced the other week).

In that case, power off the machine and disconnect the main power molex between the mainboard and the psu, unhook the battery, wait 30 seconds, reassemble and power back on.

However, before replacing the battery, make sure it is in working order.

First boot of the machine will result in a ram clear error, but at this stage, make sure all your settings are correct, and reboot the machine again, making sure you wait 30 seconds before powering it up again, and that should sort the problem.

If you still get a ram clear error after this, then it's possible that your coincell mod or your battery is at fault.

The main reason behind disconnecting the power molex and the battery, is to clear any possible ram corruption that can happen, which can result not propaly clearing from memory, of which was something I can across a few weeks back on an Astra Joker Poker (Sit down cab type, on pluto 5).

Only downside to this, is it will reset the game histroy like a full factory reset, but this methord is sometimes required to clear faults from memory, where normal trick fail in doing so.
