Good evening all,

 

Firstly I would like to say Hi to everyone here at Fruit Emu, My name is Paul and I'm from south Blackpool! I'm 26 and work full time as a manager is a food place. My hobby is indeed fruit machines, whether that's buying, fixing or even playing. I would like to become a technician in Fruit machines and want to own my own small company loaning out machines to B&Bs once I have my sufficient licence, but I have many goals within this element. I came across this site looking for tips, and guides on fixing machine. I have had a browse and I must say that it's very helpful.

 

I do have a question that I need help with, I have a Bell Fruit 'Hot Property' and it has an error of MUX ROW ERR 31. The machine does still work, but the lamps go off from time to time with the alarm sound! I know its the board, but I'm struggling to work out what is wrong with it. The battery has leaked slightly so that's already off, but there's nothing I can see (like erosion) that's causing it. Anyone got any ideas with this one???

 

I hope I can help with other peoples issues if I see them, and get myself involved on this site

Welcome bud, I'm one of the mods on the site.

Now the machine you speak of, is based on bell-fruits scorp4 hardware, and if I remember right, is housed in their Smiley Cab range..... It's also emulated on MFME10.1.

Now with any MUX error, this relates to lamps, and is intergrated on to the mainboard itself, so that is where you need to start looking.

That's correct, and its the smiley cab also.

 

I have looked all over the board and can't seem to see any erosion, I've even tested the tracks in that area, is there anything else you think can cause this or is it definitely erosion from a leak??

Could be a loose wire on the row connector plug or ....

 

A faulty transistor on one of the lamp columns. Will have to check each transistor in turn to find the faulty one...

 

That may be made more difficult if it is sporadic and not happening all the time.

Check all diodes all 256 of them. Check all transisters from the scorp4 on the lamp output sinks and pins on the plugs for burn marks

Not kept anywhere damp or cold is it? I had a machine on scorp 4 that did this. As soon as I moved it into the warmth it stopped coming up with with the error and never returned!

Okay thanks for the help, lots to check then here, I shall have a good sweep at it see what's there.

 

It is actually in a damp place yes. It's been a error for a few months now though and in time has got worse. Do you suggest moving into a dryer, warmer environment?

I have tried another board and that board makes the machine work, so now I know its 100% the board. I have had a good look at the board and cant seem to see any defects, apart from in pic 2, the 'chip' looking bit on the left of the picture, looks green, could this be the cause? this this fixable or would that now cause the error??

That green you mention on pic 2 is where the battery has started to leak and the vapours from the battery start to damage components and tracks. Looks like the battery has come off in good time as there looks to be little damage. The green on that chip doesnt look like anything to be concerned about at the minute.

 

DEFINITELY get that machine out of the damp and cold and leave it for a day or two to dry out. The damp causes some weird things to happen to machines, I would try this first with the old board in it, see what happens.
