Did you check the fuses on the old non-working one?

Here you go.  Fill your boots :)

Is there any 'blackening'  or the a slight smell of 'cooked' components? If it's a Switch Mode PSU (no transformer), which is more than likely, it might cost more than it's worth to repair it. Ideally you need someone to give it a once over to tell you if it's worth hanging onto.

Personally if it's given you trouble, then bin it.

Until I get my hands on it LOL.

That's good to know Launton. Well I say you have a good chance of repairing it.

Indeed, Barcrest only brought in switch mode for MPU5. Still very reliable even so.

Check fuse's and main barbus loom from the psu to the mpu for sign's of burnt out pins marked up as 15way power which is a red sticker. also check the mpu on which is 11way triacs the white sticker . ***** Please remember to have the mains lead removed first *****. If they are on the mpu burnt give each pin a little scrape with a screw driver and use a drawing pin to get into the plugs pins i.e the barbus loom ***** NOT THE MAINS LEAD *****

.._-=It`s not a problem only a challenge =-_..
