So many members online, so little posting - so I thought I'd start a couple of simulataneous Polls, commenting is encouraged :D

Basically, in this thread I'd like to know which manufacturer you Lo-Tech players prefer, and any reasons [although you don't have to post if you don't want!]

Lo-Tech machines are those without any real 'feature', normally having a set of reel wins, and a 'streak' feature. Typical ones at the moment include Astras 'Party Time / Party Games', Mazoomas 'Monopoly', Electrocoins BarX machines, among many others! It includes Mulitplayers machines [often called Arena machines].

If you are unaware about the manufacturer of any games, just ask and I'm sure you'll get a fairly quick reply!

Also, I do not work in any Fruit Machine sector, and the poll is to get people talking about stuff, and also because I'm just interested :D

While I haven't checked when the last poll of this sort was started, with the site now at about 32000 members, I think there should be an interesting set of results!

If I missed a manufacturer out, post it as well and I'll add it [if possible!]

I've gone with JPM here for 2 reasons.

1) While admittedly, Barcrest were miles ahead of the pack in terms of design and sound, they didn't have the thrill factor that early JPM games had. Also if my memory serves me correctly, JPM were the first Manufacturer to move away from nudges or cash as the only features, introducing Cash Pots and Melon Meters to the scene.

2) It was very hard to win a lot of money out of early Barcrest's. JPM machines like Big Banker, Supatrack, etc...tended to pay out quite a lot of money in a short space of time and not necessarily play badly afterwards either. Many's the time I walked smugly off a JPM with £25 from a £4 JP and watched in horror as the next player continued to coin it in!!! :p

Although I only have a little experience with Lo-Tech machines, I've gone for Barcrest, as I've only ever played Party Time once one a good day, once losing £60 in about 3 minutes. I played a Barcrest 'Quack Shot', interesting game, nice artwork and sounds....a more enjoyable way to throw your wallet away :)

Just my opinion, I'm looking forward to posts from Party Time players to correct me :)

That was my parents favourite, they never touched another Lo-Tech :)

I have to admit I quite like the game after playing it on the emulator...and as it was an MPU4 machine I could almost class it as a Barcrest :)

I didi have a PCP option originally, but I realised you could only have 10 poll options...compared to my 17...so some had to go :(

If anyone wants other manus added, I can include them in the first post of the thread at the top, and you can vote by posting?

Ace were the daddies of lo-tech's for a wee while back in the £4.80 token days.Play it again was the biggest streaker of its time.Miles ahead of the streak from 777 heaven.imo

Project had a load of lo-techs too.Crazy pays was one of my favs, this was later converted into a £15,£25 game with a different cab.Jokers wild ( the original one ) was a goodun.Wheel of fortune, how could i forget the big £1 super tokens ! This machine could pay out well over £60 of tokens in a very short space of time, another one coverted to £25.

Never got too excited about lo-tech's but did quite enjoy the Big tops and Red white and blue multiplayers from a few years back but cant be bothered with the ever so often £50-£100 run of mixed 7's wins that can occur far too often when played at the wrong time.

Party time ect can feck right off !

It is hard to say, I guess they had a kind of feature, especially Snappy Viper, but I'm not sure you could call them Hi Techs.

Party Time is a machine that is in almost all arcades, normally in multiplayer format, basically an OXO + Bars [Astra Bars] game, but where even a £1 win can tranfer up to a set of oversized reels, and these have been known to pay upwards of £100. It is also known for sucking £200 when in a bad mood :D

Unless you were an arcade player, you won't have seen one, but there used to be many requests here for a Party Time emulator, and the words 'Party Time' normally result in arguments :)

Tricky one... normally i ould go for astra cause of party time and other stuff...

but as of recent i have been caining all the electrocoins magic 7's with the 10 or 25 win... or the one with 15 on as well...

i know much prefer electrocoins as their aint many games where u can get a hold on £15 and other wins and get up the bank to around £70 in 10 mins of play..

or are these just the ones around my way???

I chose Astra machines because of the way the machines are done.

Damn polls here, only allowing 10 options :(

I think next time I'll run a manual poll, where you post your favourite manu and I list votes in the first post of the thread :)

Mazooma have released 3 of my favourite Lo-Tech multi-player machines

Golden X (Golden Game)
Monopoly - 3 Player
Monopoly Arena - 4 Player

They seem to give the thrill factor when you get onto the top reels, there is excellent sounds on Golden X and when your on the top reels, your in for a surprise because it always seems to go for different streak amounts. Monopoly is just a clone of this machine with monopoly sounds yet just as exciting.

The only experience of 3 Player Monopoly by Mazooma I had was pretty bad, but it was in a crap arcade in Bridlington, and I didn't trust the bloke running it :)

All he did was sit in a chair watching people play machines, I asked for some £1s and he pointed to the note changing machine, which wouldn't take my notes....he was giving the impression that I was causing him some king of hardship by expecting some change, despite the fact he relies on people like us to make a living :o

Surely the best low-tech of all time were some of projects like:

Jokers wild,
Bear streak,
Crazy pays,
Red white blue,

and those ones with the lcd screens in...
