epoch roms not loading in sound tool, why?

Best Answer killcrazy, 15 July 2013 - 07:40 AM

Some Epoch sound ROMs don't have the sample information headers and it's therefore impossible to extract the sounds to WAV from them I'm afraid.

Hey Guitar or anyone else who can help me. I want to load the 25caret gold Roms into sound tool, but I get a "Failure Rom is unknown." What does this mean? Clearly I know that these are Epoch Roms. I also get this for the Italian job 3. I would like to convert some of these to WAVs before Killcrazy does his emu so I at least have some sounds to play around with. Speaking of Wavs, can I please have Impulse's Flashback machine as this was a great one to play at Weymouth, my favourite sound being the "Yeah!" sound. I managed to almost get 2 carots on the board on the machine at bingo, but that 25 caret gold was actually made by Maygay/Union, not the Epoch board. Is it possible to be emulated?

I now have the WAV files for flashback, they loaded successfully as YMZ epoch style 2.

I came over all nostalgic when I heard this. Hard to believe it's 15 years since this machine savaged my wallet. Remember the hi-lo reel had each way steps to improve your number? Great, except they decided to put all the good numbers in sequence (1-11-2-12) on one part of the reel, and of course all the shit numbers together on the other side of the reel. Bastards!

Thanks for the wav Dougsta, how did you join the sounds together? I have the one I wanted plus all the other machine sounds from sound tool, but I didn't know you could join the sounds together. If possible, please could you join bud wise err coors together?

Killcrazy has hit the nail on the head with this one.

The different styles represent the way that the header is stored. Style 1 has more info than style 2, and after that they stopped putting in the header completely.

Here you go :)

I use Audacity to join the files together. It's a free, open-source sound editing program. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
